ran out got some more today
And then filled up the pot, on top of the already planted seed?
What kind of cfl is it? Warm, cool? Wattage? It won't need light until it sprouts anyway, just warmth and moisture.

when you want your plants to bud you have to have your plant in 12 hours of total darkness for 2 months. That will be hard to do. I would move the plant to the closet and get a cheep timer.
Nightwolf1772
07-23-2007, 11:49 PM
ok kool that can be done easy
WildFire.ca
07-23-2007, 11:53 PM
When you put the plant in too flower I would get 4 cfl's and hang them around the sides just below the top of the plant and then your lower buds will be big also.

Good on ya for getting started.
I just bought a couple grams of herb downtown. Gave me an instant headache. Man, I can't wait until I'm in full production and don't have to mess with crappy weed again.

Make sure you are getting the lights as close to the plant as possible. As close as half inch away at those wattages.

07-24-2007, 12:12 AM

07-24-2007, 12:27 AM
for your first grow just use one or the other and with the money you save from not buying weed from this grow buy better gear for next time, and just keep doing that.

Once it starts coming up, keep the lights back at first so you don't burn the poor new thing. Then you can bring them closer over a few days/week. Put the bulb near the back of your hand to see how warm it is. MJ is even more sensitive than your hand.
Get a fan blowing on the seedling right away to create a light breeze. This circulates the air and strengthens the stem.
Your two 15W lights will be ok for one plant for maybe a few weeks. Combined, they will give you about 1500 lumens, which, at the bare minimum, will cover 1/2 a sq ft.

I have a 27w, 32W, 42W, and a 200w cfl I can get my 27w a half inch from my new seedlings with no problem. The 27watter I acquired in a bulk hydro equipment buy. I was able to find out what kind of light it was by entering the different numbers and names on the bulb in too Google. The ones I bought only have the info on the package.

ok kool im kinda worried though my lamps have a watt max # on them will it be dangerus to go over that limit

07-24-2007, 01:10 AM
yes It could be what I use for my little cfl's is a little adapter dongle thingie that has 2 prongs that fit in to a wall socket and the other side mounts a bulb. I then use a light bulb splitter so I get 2 bulbs on each side. I hang this from an extension cord over my baby's.

You can flip them when ever you want too. It is best to flip them after the internode spacing is not even any more. (The branches are not growing from the same place, they have started to stager. Any time after this is ideal, and get a better yield. bigger the plant the bigger the buds. The only concern here is that the plant is going to grow big, 2-3x the size it is the day you flip it.
Hint: put your plant in to 24 hours of darkness the day of the flip and no vitamin B. This will take a 5-7 days off the total cycle.
I am unable to tell you the benefits of topping I will have to leave that to some one else. Some people top in veg to try to make the plant busher, others top during flower to get the other buds sites to grow. Because the top is shocked the rest of the plant will start to grow in a day or so 5-7 days later the top recovers and everything is normal again and the plant is busher. How ever you have stalled your plant for 5-7 days and cut the fucking top off.

WildFire.ca
07-26-2007, 06:36 PM
they should be ok in different 1/4 gal. pots for a month then change to 1gal. pots, and just before you change your light cycle to 12/12 get 2-3 gal.pots try for 3gal. its time to change pots when the roots are near the bottom of the planter, or you can see them out the drainage holes.

Hi sweetie, How's it going? Keep the CLFs close but not touching the plants- about 3 inches is fine. I disagree about waiting to separate the plants. the longer you wait, the bigger the root system. If you are gentle, you should be able to transplant them without too much shock. Next time 1 seed, 1 cup! I use these deep blue plastic glasses I found at Walmart (I think). They are 12 oz, thin and cheap. I poked a hole in the bottom for drainage (this is important to do!). I like them 'cause they block most of the light, but I can still see the roots. Makes judging transplanting time easier. I also sometimes use paper drink cups, but I like the blue plastic glasses better.
While they are still in the glasses, I top them. I take a 3 or 4 node cutting. The cutting goes into the 12/12 closet to sex and, hopefully, make roots. They sex way faster than the plants they came from. I discard the males at this time (be sure to label your plants and cuttings!). The clones are put back under 24/7 lighting as soon as I know they are females. They reveg and grow there until they are big enough for 12/12.
From there they go to 1 gallon pots. I keep them under 24/7 lighting until they are good sized. I like to LST my plants. I hang bolts from twist ties, like Xmas ornaments, to make my plants grow low and wide. This exposes the side branches to full light and they grow buds much bigger than the "popcorn" buds you'd expect.
Finally the plants are transplanted into 19 gallon rubber maid tubs ( Walmart - $4, the lids make nice drip pans for the tubs) I put 2 small plants or 1 large into each tub. I slide the tubs into the closet and there they grow! I have worms in my tubs and the occasional fungus gnat. I put foil on the surface of the soil to reflect light on the lower side of the plant. It also confuses the gnats so they don't breed as much. With CFLs and tube fluoros, there is very little chance of hot spots forming from reflections from the foil, unlike HPS. Keep an eye out for spider mites- they are deadly to your plants! Use good soil and some epsom salts (try the Dollar store or any drug store). Read the grow FAQs. Don't over-water or over-fertilize your plants! It is easier to fix too little than too much. Don't buy Miracle Grow. Grow organically, the harvest is going into your lungs- no poisons needed!!
Enjoy your new hobby!- Granny:hippy:
