Although U2 maybe annoying, you can't deny the longevity they've enjoyed. They're still together with original members and original Manager. They've won 22 Grammy's, more than any other rock band. I can totally see how a lot of their music wouldn't appeal to people as a lot of it is overplayed and some of it , never played.
For me though, it'd be Staind,Linkin Park and Alanis Morissette... They give my ears pain.

i dont like Rap, hiphop, pop, emo or new country so mentioning specific bands would be pointless. but as for other genres: I hate nickelback, john mayer (he sucks at guitar, hate to break it to you), sum 41, linkin park, bon jovi, and Oasis is the most overrated band of the past 25 years.

BTW: I can see you saying U2 after Rattle and Hum sucks, but before that as well? They had some amazing albums from 1980-1989.
