finally have the ability to start

I have been looking into a hydro grow and have chosen a Aeroponic set up with a fogger system in a rubber maid tub. The problem with me is that i do not know exactly how to get started. Do i use just the clay pebbles and put a seed in after it germinates in to that? or do i have to use strictly clones which i don't have access to? or do i need to use a rockwool cube inside the clay pebbles?

Any information will help
