There must be one today. Every complete f(@king idiot in Atlanta was out on the road today. People stopping for green lights, not going when the light turns green, stopping for no apparent reason, turning down side roads and stopping in the road holding up traffic on the side road and the main road. It makes things that much more dangerous for me on my motorcycle. Can't tell you how many people must've been trying to make me hit them or hit me themselves. Lost count after 10 minutes of riding. That's what I hate about Atlanta. Worst traffic in the world. Sorry, just had to vent. I'm done now. Enjoy your day and watch for motorcycles.

You should try riding here in Los Angeles where people cannot see past their own rear view mirrors because they are so self absorbed.:wtf:

I especially liked your warning for us motorcycle ridiers, that is about the most considerate thing I have read in a long time.

Today is "National Ride Your Bike To Work Day" and I only saw 5 bikes on the road before one of which was an LAPD cop on a Kawi1000P.
Get out and ride your motorcycle today and think about the 420 at the end of the road.

Where 75/85 merge is where hell is located.

^^ I have driven in LA rush hour. It's got nothing on Atlanta traffic. LA has twice the people of ATL, but it's a much much larger city. ATL has developed in a sprawling manner. It gets built out, not up. There's only about a half a million people living in metro ATL, out of the 5 million who work there. It really creates massive traffic problems when 4.5 million people (OK we'll say 3 million working people) try to all get to and from work at the same time. In most major cities (NYC, Chicago, LA) the population majority lives within the city, whereas most Atlantans live in the suburbs, miles from work. And Atlanta has some of the worst city planning ever, which brings me to my next point...

^ Most major cities are set up on a grid, but not Atlanta. TCO is absolutely right. The 75/85 connector is the epicenter of hell. Especially the north end where 400, 75 and 85 all come together within a mile and a half. You simply can't bring a major city's major highways together in one spot. Then trying to move all that traffic right through the center of town is friggin ridiculous. What the hell were our city planners thinking?

^^ Yeh, spider. Just doing what I can to keep us safe. Wish I could do more.

The I-10 and I-405 or the I-405 and the 101 Freeways have the worst interchanges in America. No city in this country has the congestion of those two freeway interchanges and that is documented fact.

I have had to split lanes for 15 miles through dead stand still traffic on the 101 freeway to find at the end of the traffic jam that should not have been a bunch of confused idiots not sure if they should take this exit or that exit and been stuck in super slow moving traffic on the I-10 freeway coming west for 50 miles or more during rush hours. Yes, rush hours because it can take as long as three hours to get home the 8 miles from down town in a car even though the traffic signs say 45 minutes to down town or vice versa.

I have only gone past Atlanta or through the air hub but never actually driven in Atlanta so my experience there is nil. I doubt you not that the traffic is enough to drive a man insane in Atlanta and hope that you will be able to cope without losing your mind like I see people do everyday here.

I think it does not matter which city has worse traffic, yours or mine since all cities have really bad traffic and they are only getting worse because there is no such thing as population control.

In this day and age with gas prices as high as they are, motorcycles are the only logical way to transport ones self from home to work and back.
Motorcycles do not take up the whole road like a fully loaded with out of control rotten little bastard kids and crazy cel phone talking mothers SUVs do.
Motorcyclists are for the most part extremely considerate especially with other motorcyclists and none of us care for cagers at all.
I honestly believe that everyone should be made to ride a motorcycle and if you cannot or will not, then you do not go on the road. There are just too many people and not enough space. It is not going to get better, only worse.

I think I've heard of that intersection, or at least those highways. Probably famous for they're traffic.

Oh how I wish it was legal to split lanes in GA. Sometimes I split anyway or split small groups of traffic. But it's a helluva fine if you get caught. I try to stay off the interstates completely. Been there a few times but don't like it unless it's empty.

I have only gone past Atlanta or through the air hub but never actually driven in Atlanta so my experience there is nil. I doubt you not that the traffic is enough to drive a man insane in Atlanta and hope that you will be able to cope without losing your mind like I see people do everyday here.

Aw hell nawh. Them sounds like fightin' words. ;)

I think it does not matter which city has worse traffic, yours or mine since all cities have really bad traffic and they are only getting worse because there is no such thing as population control.

Lots of factors play into how well a city flows. The country can provide for it's population and then some. But you got a point. There is no reason 5 or 10 million people need to stay in one spot.

In this day and age with gas prices as high as they are, motorcycles are the only logical way to transport ones self from home to work and back.

One of my main reasons for getting one. There's also a lot of unnecessary gas burned into the air using a 4-6000 lb vehicle to transport a 110 lb soccer mom to the hair salon. I'm not a tree hugger, but I do give a damn.

Motorcycles do not take up the whole road like a fully loaded with out of control rotten little bastard kids and crazy cel phone talking mothers SUVs do.

Yup. Can't stand them when I'm in my car. I hate getting stuck behind a vehicle I can't see around or through.

Motorcyclists are for the most part extremely considerate especially with other motorcyclists and none of us care for cagers at all.

Absolutely. If you're physically capable of riding one, there's not a reason in the world you shouldn't. Though there are a few mental exceptions. Some people are just way too dumb and would hurt somebody trying to stunt in the wrong places at the wrong times. But in countries where mopeds and motorcycles are more common, the majority of people get around on them just fine with few catastrophes. Maybe something the US should practice.

By the way what do ya ride? I got a '95 Kawi ZX600. First bike bought about 6 months ago. Saving for something newer now that I sorta know how to ride.

yeh. it took me 5-6 hours to take my buddy from Roswell to Tucker (only 10 min. there) to Underground (dropped him at work) and back to Roswell. Told him never again. Might've just been a bad day butthis place is ridiculous where traffic is concerned. Evening rush hour starts between 3 and 4 o' clock and ends about 7:30. Morning doesn't usually concern me but gyod-dayum I hate the traffic here.

Anybody that travels less than 5 miles should be forced to ride a bicycle. Or walk.

You are so right. I hate the traffic here. Especially I-75N to I-575...I try to stay away from the interstates during rush hour. It's a nightmare. I think Ga has the worst intersate system ever. And all of the road work doesn't help either.

You have no idea. My dad is an engineer for the Ga DOT and he tells me stories of all the bad drivers and all the wrecks he sees. He keeps telling me never to drive on 75 after each timne he sees a wreck. LOL, I seriouslly do hate driving anywhere inside the 1-285 Circle, or between Kennesaw and Marietta.

I ride "Old School" Honda DOHC CB1123 Super Sports and a 79 CBX 6 cylinder sport bike.
The 6 cylinder bike is mine and the ZX-14 belongs to a freind of mine.

My red CB1123 Super F was murdered by a woman driver that could not pay attention to the rules of the road and turned left right in front of me across a double yellow line in a blind curve on a mountain road with no where to go but broadside into her 85 Bronco II.
