just hooked up my chiller w/ a 130gph pump and my aero 60's 40 gal panda res. i have had them running for about 5 hrs and havent seen much change in temp...gerrrr.anyone else rockin this chiller with a similar sized resevoir? its specs say its completely capable of dropping my 80deg water 40deg...maybe it just needs to run for a while?:wtf:

WOW, I didn't think it could bring down temps that much. When I looked at the chillers they would barely bring down 8 to 10 degrees. Maybe someone can help but let it run. Maybe it takes awhile.
My system is smaller but I use a 1/15hp chiller with my 15 gallon res with 4 buckets and it runs about 10% of the time to keep the temps at 68 degrees. Without the chiller the res temps were near 80 and I had root rot issues.
I know mine suggested a pump of 350 gph though....I wonder if you need a bigger pump for that system?

Hydrofarm - Active Aqua HGCH1/10 Active Aqua Chiller, refrigeration unit 1/10 HP (http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7637)
heres the link to tha lil guy.after speaking with the hydro store, it sounds like it may defective,or my room at 90deg F is too hot...but i would expect more than 3 deg of cooldown even at room temp of 90, b/c my rez temp would still only be up at 82 at most anyway. if you are having rez temp issues w/ root rot,try using some beneficial microbes...ive been rockin the aero60 for 2yrs..w/o a chiller.and yes 2 liters are whatcha gotta do in the summer in cali if ya dont have a chiller.
Hiya Crispi! Good to see you dude, it's been awhile - I've taken a short breather from the forums for awhile as you may have noticed but I'm still kicking it with the wfarm. Harvesting this weekend and it's a beaut! Buds are so heavy I can't really open up the hut without branches spilling all over.
The chiller I use is the 1/15 HP Current USA Prime Nano Chiller. I think I paid about $280 or so with free shipping. It's been a real lifesaver in this socal heat and only uses 150w or so when it's running. The only thing I'm worried about with it is that it is not meant for salt water so I am unsure how it will interact with nute solution running through it which I think has some salinity to it. Anyway, I needed a cheap one and this was a good investment for me.
Hey Demon, did you ask your guy about the pump? I just looked at the specs for this and it say 300-600 gph pump so I would think your 1/10hp should be more like 600 -1000 gph??? You run 130 - can't see that being adequate.

i would think you would need a stronger pump if it was aero but I dont know much about aero. I use a 1/4hp chiller for 100 gallons of water and it lowers it 25 degrees F no problem. I would think a 1/10hp unit would cool 40 gallons. Obviously I use an entirely different system and more water but I use a 500gph pump. Maybe the pump is too fast for the chiller? Can you hear it going on?

hmmmm,i tried a 130gph and a 250gph pump and had the same thing goin on w/ both.i think maybe the pumps are conflicting w/ each other (aero pump vs. chiller pump) b/c it drops the temp more when i turn the aero pump off.i am perplexed.:(
