In Connecticut, theres this guy who goes by the name of Skankin' Richard. If you've been to a ska show in the parts of NYC, NJ, and MA that border CT you've seen Skankin' Richard. He's about 60 years old and goes to basically every ska show in the area. For an old guy, he's a really good skanker too. Talk about some local celebs in your area.

Neither did I, it's not a person, but in my town there's this fake polar bear on someone's yard on a main road. They always dress the bear up according to season and holidays, and when they don't dress it, people actually go and dress it up for the homeowners and bitch about it on the newpaper.

a so called local celebrity would be the gentleman who sits at us 29 south, about 6 miles before charlottesville (where i live) waving at people.

i think he had a near death experience and decided that was how he would spend his days after he retired

I know of so many selebrites that live here, Selma Hayek, Oprah, Val Kilmer, when I was small Steven Segal used to live a mile from my house, I think he was traing and now hs like an Akido god. Their many more but those who I know and are my good friends I wont mention.

As for local celebrities who not everyone might have heard of, the celtic folk music scene around here has produced some pretty amazing musicians who have gone on to national fame, like Jay Ungar and Rod Miller.

Jay Unger is well known in New York City and Upstate New York. He has had many other bands and musical projects, before and during the celtic music. He's done film soundtracks and various types of music including old-timey American folk, rock (Cat Mother and the All-Night Newsboys), and swing. Where is he located now?

I'm not sure exactly but my third cousin and I are both Irish fiddlers and were in the Adirondacks this weekend when Jay's name came up (of course everyone knows Ashokan farewell, from the Civil War soundtrack, lol)- he was in W-Mass last time I knew his whereabouts.

At the town that my college is in there's this guy who thinks he's superman. They call him the St. Cloud Superman. He sits on street corners and by the dairy queen with an american flag and doing the generic superman pose in his superman outfit. He's like 50 or so, overweight, and psychotic. I think he actually has sexual assault charges on his record and is banned on the campus of my school. Lol these pics are from before he became overweight. For Halloween next year I want to get a superman costume and go stand next to him on the street corner, kinda like his mascot. hahahha

There's a fifty-some odd year old man here who thinks he's Jackie Chan.

He has some kind of mental disability and receives lots of assistance from the government, so he doesn't work. He eats both lunch and dinner at the Rutland Buffet and spends the rest of his day loitering in the adjacent Wal-Mart, sometimes offering breakdancing lessons, sometimes threatening people. I try to avoid him if I can.

On a more serious note, there's a guy named Herman who pushes a cart around. He doesn't have a tongue - the Nazis cut it out at Majdanek. I forget how he escaped, but he's got the tattoo on his arm. He's very friendly and will show you if you ask to see it. You can't really understand him, but I'd pay a large sum of money to be able to talk with him and learn his story. Someday in Heaven :jointsmile:
