I was walking home a few minutes ago and this fucking huge rotweiller came out and started barking at me, I was walking, nearly off the right side of the road and it was on the left...then it just started running at me, I ran for nearly a block and it finally stopped, but I stood still and it stayed there and was barking at me..called 911 and the cops arrived about five minutes later to give me a ride home..wow...I'm stoned as shit..a very interesting ride..haha, but that scared the shit out of me, I've never been chased by a dog like that before..

Dude that sucks. We were just talking yesterday about whether or nor a dog could take us. I'd say a big dog might could, but it'd have to be a big dog. The only thing dogs have in a fight is a mouth and some dull claws. I always figured I could get a grip and slam one down hard enough to hurt it. If not, go for breaking its neck. Legs are also vulnerable. They don't have the wide range of motion our limbs have and could probably be easily dislocated. They're also kinda skinny and susceptible to breaking. This is not to say I think I can take any dog, more like I'm not going down without a good fight. I really hope I'm never in that situation. Glad you came out alright. My buddy jumped out on a limb with it though and said he could take on a tiger. At first I just laughed at him. Then he started sounding serious and I just wanted to slap him.

I was told by a Doberman owner from the South Bronx, many years ago, that if you're attacked by this type of dog punch it in the nose as hard as you can, and the animal will usually stop. Another thing he said to do, if things are going really bad, is to shove your fist right down it's throat as far as possible. I do not know if these methods work.
I heard of one guy that was being threatened by a vicious-acting dog and he just ordered it to "SIT" - and it did.
Running does not help much, because these dogs are fast.
A few years ago a Rottweiler, that was on a leash held by a security guard, start barking and growling at me because I made eye-contact with it, which they see as a challenge.

I don't trust Rotties as a rule....american ones anyway. Those dogs have an attitude streak that I just don't care for and they CAN be vicious.

Yeah Rotties are a little on the unpredictable side from what I know of my experience with them. One friend has a sweet female who is just a big much ball, but she's constantly surrounded by people and had been well socialized from a puppy. Another friend has a big male who is okay but is very sexually aggressive, and if you turn your back to him, expect a pair of paws on your shoulders while he tries to hump you. It's really unnerving.
It seems that German dog breeds need an extraordinary amount of socialization and training to make acceptable pets, since they were all bred with a VERY specific purpose in mind as a working animal. That's one of the reasons I decided AGAINST a purebred boxer and opted for a boxer cross instead.

I think almost any dog bred out of our country is probably better bred....generally our aniimal breeding standards are very low and it shows in the resulting offspring. I could go on and on about american breeders but will stop before I pop my cork, lol.
Hope you don't have blisters on your feet from all that running now Mark. Still better than a bite though. ;)

Like for example how American Irish setters have lost a lot of their athleticism (look at how the show lines have an exaggerated slope to the back and shortened hind legs) and are hard as hell to train? And how if you want an Irish setter for a bird-dog, you almost have to look to Canada for a decent one?
Grrrrr!

Thats scary! Thats the only dog I have ever been bitten by..and they scare the shit out of me! Sure I have met some really nice ones too...but they can be so fucking scary!!
My dog is #4 on the top ten dogs that kill people list..and I seriously can't imagine why! I guess some people just don't know how to train and take care of their dog well...cause according to my dogs breed characteristics they can be the nicest of dogs and the most social.
I guess weird owners make weird dogs..or something like that.

Once I was walking home from the park after a nice blunt smoking session with some friends when a pitbull charged me. Standing still wasnt an option cuz I could just tell that dog was out for blood. So I ran and climbed onto the very top of some random persons truck and called me friends to come pick me up. Scared the crap out of me.

did the cop do anything about the dog? In my old neighborhood there was a mean dog who got out pretty regularly. I have two small dogs and I was always worried it was going to try and attack one of them.
If it went for you, you could have just kicked it one in the face.
Normally i wouldnt say kick any animal, but if it's going to hurt you, kill it.
Your more important than a dog.
And the owners cant do shit because it's their fault, they should have it under control.

a doberman pincher bit the top of my head as a 6th grader
stung so bad
it was my neighbor's dog
the dog did the same thing to their kid
probably revenge for the cropped ears
I've found all rotweillers to be good doggies!

I saw a nasty dog get sprayed by a mailman, many years ago. The dog ran up and down the street rubbing it's face on the ground, and in the dirt, trying to get the stuff off.
A cab driver once told me a story about a dog incident he witnessed years ago. A person was walking an Irish Wolfhound, that was a trained show-dog, in the park on a leash. An unleashed pit bull saw it and came charging across the grass to attack. When it got close enough, the pit bull tried to go for the Wolfhound's throat, but the dog reared his head up and grabbed the pit by the scruff of it's neck with his teeth, then picked it up and shook it violently until it's neck was snapped. When the pit bull was dead the Wolfhound dropped it to the ground and went back to his walk like nothing happened.
