Why does every thread about legal bud get closed around here?

I understand that there is some basic information about legal bud pinned on the forum, and for those asking "if it gets you high?", I can understand not wanting to clog up the forum with that question over and over again.... The question is answered in the pinned thread, so for the purposes of answering that particular question, I can understand why it's just easier to refer people who are asking that particular question to the pinned thread that answers it....

But it sure would be nice to have a conversation about the legal bud without it getting shut. It would also be nice to have a discussion on the subject where the moderation team here has the final (and only) word on the subject. There are other parts of the conversation that would be interesting to people and it boggles my mind why it's such a taboo subject around here?

Is it because the people that run this site have an advertisement deal going with the herbal smoke shop and are afraid that somebody is going to pipe in that it doesn't work or doesn't do anything for you and that it's going to piss off the herbal smoke shop people??

I mean last I checked, it's not against the law to endorse or not endorse a legal product? People should be able to discuss legal herb and discuss their thoughts on it without offending anybody. Even the herbal smoke shop people. As long as the people who run this site and who have an advertisement agreement with the herbal smokeshop endorse the product and have nothing but good and positive things to say about it, that should satisfy any agreement.

It just seems a little communist to shut down any conversation about it before it gets going out of fear that somebody doesn't like the legal bud and will say something negative about it. If that is in fact why it's done.

And if that isn't the reason why it's so taboo to talk about it here, then what is the reason?

I'm not trying to make waves, I'm just trying to understand why it is that way. It would seem that if any community should be tolerant of varying views on a given subject, it should be this community. After all, discussion of marijuana (normally a very taboo subject by much of society) is the cornerstone of this community.... doesn't it seem a little backwards that a community built around discussion of marijuana is censoring people on the discussion of legal herb?

Just curious....

They get closed, Grover, so we can protect our advertisers. Everytime the question comes up, people--often those who've never even tried the stuff--take the opportunity to paint legal bud in a negative light, and as a board supported by advertisers, that's not what we want. So, having learned that this inevitably happens after many dozens of similar threads, we have learned to pre-empt those negative comments by closing the thread as soon as we've provided our blurb of standard information about legal bud.

This doesn't in any way impinge on your freedom to discuss legal bud. You can do that all you want through IM or other means of electronic communication. We just want to promote the product positively here as a courtesy to our generous advertisers, and one of the most effective ways we can do that is by closing those threads before they take a negative turn.
