Day 9 of quitting tobacco. Been smoking for 25 years. Taking this medication called Chantix to help stop and it really works. I honestly cannot believe I quit smoking cigarettes.:wtf:

Blitzed....try this stuff. You can quit with this. It's not like the patches or gum or anything like that. It WORKS! Not only do you lose most of your craving for ciggies....when you do have one it doesn't even taste good or make you feel better .....the medication blocks the nicotine recepters.
This shit WORKS!!
Here is another thread I put out on it awhile back. It has the medical info somewhere in it if you are interested. (not a long post...;))

Is it prescription, or Over-the-counter?
Weedhound

it's a prescription med....brand new....made by pfizer.
Chantix (http://www.chantix.com/)
Blitzed....I am in the veterinary field and have been for many many years. If there is one thing I work with alot...it's medications....all sorts of different ones. It's hard for a medication to impress me....especially one for "quitting smoking" but I was absolutely blown away by how well this medication works. I;m also a recovering alkie (14 yrs sober) so I am WELL aware of addiction and THIS STUFF WORKS.....no gimmicks...no bs. It really made quitting cigs pretty damn easy.

My old man smoked for like 30 years, quit about 10 years ago, and now (at age 56) he runs 3 miles with our dogs in the mornings. He told me that he hasn't been able to do this in decades and that if you'd told him years ago that he'd one day be able to again, that he wouldn't have believed it.
Definitely a healthy decision, yo. :)

if you have stuff to occupy your time it makes quitting alot easier, it has to be stuff that you enjoy though.
my plan to quit is make up a week long schedule that takes up 90% of my time. then i wont even want to smoke.

As a fellow cig smoker I would like to say congratulations. Such a harmful and addicting habit. My advice to everyone out there. NEVER even put on in your mouth. In Fact dont even touch one. EVER. You will not beleive how easy it is to become addicted to them and they really do no good for you. Might as well just take a pill everyday that gives you cancer. The smoking is just another way they get you hooked on it.
Stick to the almighty Cannabis Plant. Much Funner!
But anyways....
Congrats WeedHound! I know how tough it is!

Thanks for all the nice comments and support you guys. :D I paid cash for the medication...about $100.00 a month because insurance won't cover it....too new I guess.(vs 2-3 pks of cigs a day/between $4-5 a pack) But it really IS amazing so from my point of view.....peeps....if you want to quit.....try this med. Don't worry about your will power....the med will do that for you (disclaimer: my opinion only ;))
PS...another interesting side note.....my hubby smokes "cigarillos". His smoking doesn't bother me at all.....or make me want a ciggie. Amazing!!!

Thanks X-C.....day 10! The hubby is out of town for a few days but has already made an appt to get the med and quit himself when he saw how easy it was for me to quit (and....he KNOWS me, lol)
I honestly think I've given it the test too. I went to the dentist for the first time in 10 yrs (my WORST nightmare) and didn't smoke...or really even want one. Yesterday one of the FUCKING grommets in my central rez popped off and 10 GALLONS OF FRESHLY MIXED NUTES WENT ALL OVER MY FLOOR. I could have smoked one then but didn't and the feeling went away within a few minutes.(probably because I was busy MOPPING) ...so I'm very pleased all around so far (except about the floor...:wtf:)

No I have pergo.....that stuff will stand up to paint or ANYTHING. Best flooring material I have ever had, bar none. (PS...We have 4-6 cats and 8-10dogs running around on that floor day and night. Not a SCRATCH and still shiny. )
