I was well stoned last night and mindlessly flicking through the channels, anyway i was pressin button 5 when i noticed a little bump on it. Ive checked 6 other remote controls ands its on them 2, but oh no it doesnt stop there, its on the 5 button on every mobile fone as well (shock horror)

Anyhoo moving rite along, does any1 outthere know the answer or have any theories on this.

And yes I do have to much spare time on my hands...

I think its so you can kind of know where you are on the key pad thing when its dark in the room.

That was one of my 1st theories 2, but I seriously have doubts bout it now coz you wouldnt even need that 2 navagate your way around a romote.

plus when when you press any button on a mobile all buttons are highlighted with a soft glowing light.

Then I was thinking that it might be a reference point for blind people, but thats a bit far fetched (Its mad the kinda sh1t you'll think up of when your stoned)

For blind people? a type of braille or something?

Well kinda, but not exactly, like it would help them locate number 5, when they know where number 5 is it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out where number 4, 6 etc is. but like I said it seems a bit far fetched me thinks

Its really a refrence point for navigating around the remote in general. So you dont really have to look at.

it is a brail thing,, its to help people wit bad vision, same idea with rizla red, the corners are missing so they can tell which side has the gum!
also i have to say that i havent seen too many remotes that light up the buttons?
maybe im in the stiks too long!

why would a blind person be using a remote? lol

hahahahaha yea no shit man why would they need to use a remote :wtf:so they can not watch tv? well i geuss they could listen but thatd be no fun, i think its what was said before "if your in a dark room" and not all remotes light up

I dunno to be honest coz Ive been havin no problems navagating around the remote all my life and I just realized the bumps last nite, I mean on 9 outta 10 remotes button 3 is gonna be under standby button.

That should be reference enough, but then again the bumps havta be a refrence point cause what other purpose could they serve?

Nope ive never seen a remote control where the buttons light up either, I was sayin on a mobile phone if you press a button the entire key pad lights up, hence making it easier to text in the dark. so the bumps have nothing to do with nightime navagation.

Why would someone with bad eyesight watch tv, it kinda defeats the purpose. The skins thang makes perfect sense though, i always thought it was trimmed at the side to make it easier 2 tuck a joint in and seal it

That's not to far off the mark.. But we all know the REAL truth,,

It's made for Stoners..

Because sometimes i'd be lost without them little humps to
find my way around the damn remote in the dark!
The simple things in life,, can make life harder..

this is the reason. did you ever notice that there are little bumps at the
bottom of the f and the j keys on your keyboard?

bumps like these are there so you know where your fingers are without looking.

It's for people who are blind, so that they can know where they are on the keyboard.
