Brown recluse spider bite:
That spider bite looks like a brown recluse or hobo spider bite. Those spiders aren't that big, little more than a quarter for the big ones (leg span that is) I think. It's their venom, they usually bite humans if we lie down on one, or put our shoe on and they're inside. The bite can be painless and unnoticeable. After a while the venom starts to decay your tissue and shit. It's a necrotic type of venom. It's when you don't notice and leave it alone for a while that it can really do damage.
That one on the wall behind the clock is some large breed, I think from Australia. Pretty harmless if I remember correctly.
And that wierd one "camel spider"? What the fuck? Is that photoshopped?
EDIT: shit, the first spider bite I'm talking about. Rebgirls got some other brown recluse bites lol ... Spiders don't really scare me anymore, but I kill any spider that even looks remotely like a brown recluse, I fucking hate those things (and hobo spiders too).

clock spider aka huntsman spider
Huntsman spider is a common name given to the family Sparassidae (formerly Heteropodidae). The larger specimens of these spiders are called Wood Spiders in most parts of Australia, due to their common preference for inhabiting woody places (forest, mine shafts, etc).
These eight-eyed spiders are found in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, Florida, and Hawaii, and possibly in many other tropical and semi-tropical regions.

That looks like a fake spider.
I had this toy spider (I'm sure many of you have seen these) that had a little tube attached to it and a bulb pump. You squeezed the bulb and it made it jump. I thought it was soooo cool.
Me and my best friend were getting high about 10 years ago on my boat dock late one night and we got fried. So I snuck the spider out and put it on the dock by him. Well after 5 minutes he finally notices it and the thing is so big it looks fake. So he's staring at it and just before he figures it out I squeezed the bulb and it jumps up at him. He gets up on his feet and just starts stomping on it. I'm like laughing my ass off and grabing him to keep him from destroying my magic spider. It was so funny! He said that he knew it was fake when he saw it then it jumped in the air and that made him completely change his mind that it was real. I got so many people with that thing.

Brown recluse spider bite:
When I was in kindergarten I was bitten by a brown recluse spider. I almost died from it. It bit me on my thigh and while walking down the hall at school the next day I just fell and couldn't get up. I couldn't feel my legs. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks. It was horrible.

it's actually funny how many people know of black widdows.... but only a fraction know of brown recluses... i can't remember for a fact, but i think remember hearing brown recluses are even more dangerous... but not cuz of the venom, the venom is about the same... it's how much more common they are then black widows...

In dark, reclusive places, such as closets, attics, basements, places like that. They don't like to come out of hiding very much and try to stay away from people...
Dro_Princess
07-16-2007, 05:31 AM
Here is a map for you reb that shows in shaded areas where they live and where they are spreading too. They love to be in dark places like your closet. That's why I hate having clothes in the closet. They also can get in your bed that's why every night before I go to bed I shake my sheets and covers. I never put on clothes or shoes without shaking them first. I hate spiders.
And slip your right a lot more people need to know about them and how to identify them. Not only do I have to deal with brown recluse but also black widows. We have found 2 in our house this year.
Here is a site too. Brown Recluse Spiders - Spider Information and Ways to Control (http://brownreclusespider.com/)

There's one thing I'm more afraid of than running out of toilet paper, and it's spiders!!! I hate those little bastards.
I'll even sleep in a different room if there's a spider anywhere close to my bed. I don't go anywhere near em so I can't kill em.
That graph is a little inaccurate, they're more widespread than that. Here's (http://www.brownreclusespider.com/images/brs_map.jpg) a more accurate one taken from this website (http://www.brownreclusespider.com/info.htm).
slipknotpsycho's right about that. Not many people know of them. And they do usually think of black widow's when they think of dangerous spiders (also tarantulas, even though they're not as dangerous as they're made out to be). I've never heard that about the numbers, but it wouldn't be surprising. I think though what makes them so dangerous is their venom, and combined with that the fact that most people don't know they've gotten bit at first or don't think it's a big deal that they got bit if they did know. It's so destructive when you don't get it treated because it just rots your flesh and it will spread.
EDIT: WTF!@!!!!!!!! Everyone keeps beating me to the punch today, WTF.... fucking dro, you .... lol dro it's all good just playing, but really wtf? I need to type faster or check the thread before I post, :wtf::jointsmile::jointsmile:

dude a brown recluse will kill 99% of the population if not treated, A black widow will kill 60% of those if not treated. Most of us are alergic to their venom, If a brown Recluse bites yah I hear its bad you could die in a matter of hours.

We have these wolf spiders, and man are they aggressive. They like t build their nests in sand so they like cat boxes. One time my dad went to feed the cat and he noticed something in the cat box and wham, it was trying to jump at him but couldnt get over the side. So my dad used 3/4 of a can of raid to kill it. Ugh!!! Heres a pic of a wolf spider
And no one has ever died of a recluse bite. At least thats what it says in the wiki thing.

that spider is freaky it looks like it has armor instead of hair, I have herd of people dieing from recluse bites, about 5 years ago a 90 year old woman got bit on the chest and when they found her they said their was a cavity in her chest and half of her heart was eaten buy the venom, but other than that I think like the early 70's was the last recluse fatality, if it gets your chest it is bad cause the venom moves to your hart all at once

don't have big spiders around here. lots of people have tarantulas as pets but yeah it's too cold in the winter to have anything big. our spiders are all tiny ass wont bite you and have no venom spiders. biggest spider ive ever seen in nature was only about the size of a bottle cap. all these pictures of bites make me sick to my stomache. fucking disgusting. i dont think id be able to live in a place where those things are.

Like many people im really scared of spiders the only thing i would do is RUN and i would do it FAST! if its a small one well between 1-2 inches then i would beat it with my baseball bat but any bigger and i dont know what the hell to do i would need a sniper rifle or something and get like 500 metres away from it, I hate it when you try and spray them or whack them and they see you coming or you just miss them and they go running at 100mph Argh!! and i especially hate it when they go behind the tv or something where all the wires are and you cant see it anymore :(!

hahahaha you are a master of deception. that "camel spider" is made out of fruit and veggies. and that bite is certainly not from a camel spider. most pop culture websites will they'll you they are venomous but in fact they are anything but. they do have a nasty bite because they have jaws or mandibles but no venom what-so-ever.
i've caught two in the last month in my back yard in arizona. they are actually very timid unless they are starving.
most spiders will not bite unless they feel threatened. and they eat disease carrying bugs. spiders are your friends in more ways than you know. who cares if one leaves you a little red bump on or ass every now and then....its better than catching the west nile flu.

im pretty sure thats not a camel spider bite. they dont do anything except eviscerate your flesh. its like two crab pincers, i haven't let mine bite my yet, and i hope he doesn't get the chance but i've read numerous times that they aren't dangerous at all, they have no venom and will not leave any infection or blister or anything out of the ordinary.

Lol as always I have a couple different things to say after reading all the posts...
First, rattlesnake is excellent, it tastes like the perfect mix between chicken and alligator meat. Which is to say it tastes like chicken with a slightly tougher consistency.
Second, Wiki had some good information, but a bit of misinformation as well, particularly with the distribution of the Brown Recluse. They are all over the U.S. In fact, it is the only poisonous spider that can be found in Alaska. They are semi-common in Maryland, and they are definitely in Pennsylvania, sorry Reb :( . However treatment is relatively easy for a Recluse bite.. simply soak the bitten area in a solution of water with Epson salt for 30 minutes to an hour every day. I know a man that has been bit by a Brown Recluse 3 times. He can always tell because his veins start turning purple as the poison spreads from the bite(that wont always be the case-the poison doesnt always reach the veins). His doctor told him to soak it in Epson water and it worked. He soaks it immediately every time.. sucks the poison right out.
Also Reb (Im sorry! Im not bein a dick I promise!) you said wiki stated there were no known deaths from a Recluse bite.. well not only do Recluse bites kill people, but the website actually said there were no known cases of a Recluse bite taking years to heal. It refers to a number of cases of death due to Recluse bite. Im sorry again shorty, its just when it comes to possibly lethal spider bites, I wanna make sure people know whats up :)
Third, to those who were speaking of the relative deadliness of the Recluse and Black Widow.. The Widow is rated the second deadliest and the Recluse is number 4 I believe (I cant find my Top 10 of Everythin book lol, but I think thats right)in the world. There are a number of factors that determine how deadly a spider is. A few reasons include: likeliness to attack, aggressiveness, toxicity of poison, volume of poison injected in a bite, area of habitation, how common they are as far as human interaction, etc.. The Black Widow is deadlier in almost every single one of these categories. The poison injected by a single Black Widow bite into an average sized person with an average immune system could cause cardiac arrest in as little as an hour. A child is almost certainly dead in less time, whereas the bite from a Brown Recluse will have to reach a vein and travel to the heart and lungs before causing death. A process which takes time, and a weak immune system.
Oh and one more thing off the top of my head: there are hundreds of different sub-species of wolf spider all around the globe. They range in size from 1/4" to like 6 or 7" Most of the bigger ones are in more exotic locations.
I caught a black widow in an old test tube I had a few years ago.. it was like 1 1/4" long, huge fucker.. I poured alcohol in there and capped it. It took 20 minutes for it to die.. it was crazy. The poison that came out of its fangs and the silk protein that came from its abdomen coagulated pretty quickly, and after a couple weeks the hourglass turned yellow but other than that it was pretty well preserved. I wish I knew what the hell I did with it lmao.
Ok Im done talking til theres another wrong thats needs to be righted :p

I run across brown recluse and black widows on a daily basis, as well as wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and the occasional snake too.
I buy really good wasp and hornet spray by the case, and carry a couple cans on the truck...stuff works well on spiders too. I keep the .357 in the truck loaded with rat shot for the snakes. You never know what your gonna find when you open up an air conditioning unit.
