Go to the FAQ section and start reading. There's excellent advice in there.

For what you are doing now, post your questions in the outdoor section (a couple sections down from this one).

This board tends to be little slow on the weekends, at least as far as getting advice from the real pros goes. If you can put off digging up your plants for one night, you can probably learn a whole lot tomorrow. But you can start reading in the outdoor section tonight and probably answer a whole lot of your questions.
