So my hair grows very slowly and when I finally had it where I liked it I got cancer and it all fell out. Soooooo now I have it back to my shoulders but I wanted it longer. So I decided to get hair extensions. So I priced the real hair ones that stay in for 3-5 months and it was wayyyy too expensive. So I got the next best thing; Jessica Simpson synthetic clip in extensions that I can take in and out when I choose. They were 105 bucks but thats alot better than the 600 dollar ones that you can get that stay in for 3-5 months. I got the 22 inch ones. They go to about my boobs. I got the lightest color possible and it matches perfectly. Heres a pic of what it looks like (only my color is of course bleach blonde, not the color that Jessica has in the pic).
So anyone else have extension?

Cool, I really want to see them, because my hairdresser sells them too and if they look natural I'm totally down. I have senior pictures in august and I'd rather have longer hair then my choppy/uneven shoulder length lol. I really can't afford those 200-800 dollar extensions that all these girls are getting lol!

I know right, who has money for real, sown in extensions? I never did senior pictures though. I just never felt the need too I guess.

^^ Yeah sr. pictures suckkkk, mine were funny to me, i had to go at like 8am and i was still wasted bc i didnt stop drinking until like 6 30 that morning, i had dark circles and i look stoned as hell. oh well, it makes me laugh looking at them, i gave one to my dad bc he wanted a pic of me for his office and he requested another one hahahaa. eevryone will remeber me looking fuckkeddd up forver.
but yeah those hair extentions seem great since you can take them in and out. it would pry be better than having to keep them in for long if you got sick of em. my friend used those same jessica simpson ones for prom and they looked great! they matched her hair color perfectly and it was a nice change on her. them seem pretty fun.

Just for my curiousity, how do extensions work anyways? I could never picture how they get put in/on and stay there....

^^ they are basically clip on hair with tiny clips you fastin to the root of your hair -- you can have them sewn in though
ive never had them done, only seen it on tv so sorry if im a bit inaccurate

from what I remember reading, there is a braid that goes around the lower back of your head, under your hair, kinda like one long corn row and the extensions are braided in to that braid. That's one way, atleast. I know there are probably 5000 others. <- That's not the jessica simpson way

nah they just clip in w/ itty bitty little clips, you part your hair on the top behind your head and clip them, then you put the rest of your hair downa nd it blends together.

I saw an ad for those in a magazine, my hair grows fast and it's pretty long. But couldn't you use that cheesy miracle hair grow shampoo instead?

An observation Ive made over years of watching my hair growth over my entire body... stimulation of the root of the hair seems to encourage growth. The areas of my face that I touch the most, such as my hands on the chin when in thought is where dark hair developed first, and where it grows the fastest. I cut my hair very short every week, but rub it all day long and it grows at about 1/8" to 1/4" a week, but it didnt always. When it gets longer I tend to leave it alone more and it slows down. Also, girls that brush their hair and play with it all day long seem to have faster hair growth on average, basing that on the hundreds of conversations Ive had with different females on the subject.
Im no expert on the subject, but it makes sense to me. If the hair follicle is simply taking dead skin cells, protein and I think some cutein(?) and compressing them together... if you are playing with it all the time it would be slightly pulling it farther out by just a fraction. It would make sense for the human body to compensate by filling in that open space with more dead skin cells. The body certainly produces enough dead skin cells to triple hair growth.
Like I said, I am in NO way an expert on the matter obviously, for those members who are more educated on the subject and feel the need to remind me that I have no formal education in the matter and they do so dont go around trying to play doctor (although I do love playing doctor.. :p ). Its just a supposition that I have been contemplating for a while and am now recording it in an online forum for criticism and thoughts. Soo.... criticisms and thoughts?? Lol just kidding back to the hair extensions.. I wanna see the new pics too! Ive always wondered how extensions worked.. if you could hear some of the elaborate methods my clueless imagination has conjured, you would laugh your asses off.

Did you really have cancer? If you don't mind me asking, what kind of cancer?......The Jessica hair extensions were on QVC a few weeks ago...they look pretty cool. My hair is long anyway, but I would like to have some to make it thicker.

Well stinky thanks and you cant buy them online so I went to a salon that sold the and they matched my hair color with a color ring and then she ordered them and in 2 days they were there. Luckily for me it atched b/c they didnt have any lighter colors than the one mine is, heres a link and on the site you can find where they sell them near you, Hair U Wear: Wigs, Hair Extensions, Hair Pieces And Hair Loss Solutions (http://www.hairuwear.com)

Everybody can use a confidence booster. I was thinking about ordering some natural male enhancement from TV. And I have the perfect pair of tight jeans to wear, too.

Yeah the link is above hun, and since its synthetic they were only 100 some bucks, but the real hair ones are like 399 dollars. Shit, if I have 399 bucks id buy real ones that are sown in not the clip kind haha

Ooops.... sorry! I didn't read the above post where you mentioned all the details. :stoned: I had the real hair kind that was sewn into my hair... which was fun...but it's also alot of money to keep going back every four weeks to get them re-sewn in. Clip ins are great!!!
rebgirl420
07-17-2007, 09:35 PM
exactly haha I wish I could gte sown in ones haha
Re-sewn every four weeks? You would think by now they would have a plan that would keep your hair intact permanently. I hate corporations that rob women for their vanity. It's like paying to eat.

Well... my natural hair would grow... so the extension that is sewn on to it would drop down low...and then it would start to show. :( Yes... it was a total pain in the ass... but it sure looked great once it was done! It was fun to walk in with shoulder-length hair and then walk out with hair to almost my lower back! :)
I bet it looks fantastic! Still, all the work you girls go through to look beautiful for us guys or a guy in particular-you shouldn't be charged to be beautiful as you want. But, you're all willing to pay the cost of beauty, so I'll shut up. Charge it all you want! I'm sure you'll reap all the attention you can handle.

Ganj: You are too kind. :) Thanks for the vocab lesson. Thanks to Reb for admitting she needed to use dictionary.com as well to find out what that word meant! ;) hee hee I had to look it up too....and I Love it!
I have a niche for language. Forgive me if I use foreign terms. It was better than the plain, overused "pretty," right? If you don't think so, then you've done a better job than me at failing to learn new words.

It's a good one. Let me use it a sentence.
"Beautiful disaster's pulchritude had such an effect on my soul that I was inspired to trivial acts of kindness, like opening the door as she neared the store's vestibule."
