First thing I noticed about this story is how the title of the video, and what they state doesn't make sense.

How can anyone monitor your conversations, when your phone is turned off? If your pho ne is turned off, then who are you talking to with your phone? If your phone isn't on, you can't communicate through it, thus, no conversation is done.

If they are talking about text messaging, it seems they might be able too. Every cell phone sold has a GPS chip built into it, so anyone can find out where you are in the world via. sattelite.

Who knows though. I don't own a cell phone, so I say fuck them. :)

No, they mean the govt can turn on the mic in your phone to listen to what your saying. It doesnt matter if your connected to a call or not.

what ryan said is true. they have the ability to remotely install a listening program on your cellphone that can remotely activate your mouthpiece microphone any time. the only safe way to disable it is to take the battery out of your cell phone.

even if your phone is powered off they can still use it.

the thing is its probably very complicated, pricey and rights infringing so they have only used it to bust this big mafia dude in NYC so far. other than that its a waste of time and money *stupid paranoid stoners*:D

something disturbing however: ceos and head honchos of large corps and powerful men have started removing the batteries from their cell phones because they dont want the FBI or whatever listening in...

Why would they do that unless they're doing something they shouldn't be???

If this is true then they will have a hard time hearing what you're saying. Plenty of times people have accidentally called me and it is near impossible to hear what they are saying unless they are that close the mouth piece. If you're using pay as you go you're fine since your name has nothing to do with your number.

We fear that our freedom is being thrown away yet we do nothing about it, and chances we never will do anything about it. If someone was to stand up for our rights no one follows apart from a handful of people, and then they are classed as terrorists. It's a continuous cycle of the Government raping the public in my opinion.

Man...that last part really got to me, our freedom is slipping away. Me 'n my friend were watching dazed and confused earlier and we were saying how much more relaxed it was back then, I don't know if I'mma wanna live in the states when I'm older if they don't leave us the fuck alone.

Hopefully it will only get used when it really needs to be though, 'cause thats pretty fucking sketchy. Wouldn't surprised me if they used it more in the future and began using it to bust small time dealers. Ever seen a scanner darkly? Yeah its gonna be like that in the future.

What's so "messed up" about it?

Look, the technology is nothing new, it's been around for years. Also, the government would still need a warrant before monitoring you, so by the time your cell phone would be used against you your entire life would already be under monitoring. It's a sort of last ditch effort to bug mobsters and al Qaeda, who are all too privy avoiding Freudian slips. Remember, it's possible to record conversations in someone's home by pointing a laser beam through their window, and someone 50 feet away from you can figure out what you're typing on your computer by monitoring its electro-magnetic field. Invasive technologies are nothing new and Big Brother arrived many decades ago.

My point is there are legitimate uses of the technology and there are limitations to the use (e.g. warrants). You, me, and 99.99% of the general population will never have our cell phones discreetly turned on. Yes, sure, no doubt, there will be abuses and that's sad, but that doesn't cancel its legitimacy.

Well thats a relief for the time being. yea i heard about RealID in the movie zieltgiest. My biggest concern is the American Union, which effectivley will erase the borders between mexico, us and canada. If it all goes to plan, in 5-10 years the united states of america will be no more, and so will the US constitution. Dont be surprised if youve never heard of it, it really shows how the govt controlls the media. There was one CNN reporter brave enough to cover the story, but it was only a 30 second segment.

maybe you missed it, but the federal govt no longer needs a warrant to listen in on your phone calls, search your house, or even arrest you.
