i consider myself a christian and have never been able to not believe in a god or jesus but i'm still not a very religious person and all the shit you see about church and state and the aspects of modernized media-induced christianity, one slip up and you're toast and if you watch whatever christian channel you have (stoned...what other way is there?), they lie their asses off about everything and half the time all they do is ask for money

i get confused about how i should believe and how this belief should indirectly or directly affect my actions so i remembered in the movie dogma about the buddy christ the cardinal george carlin  came up with

thats my interpretation of jesus and it works for me cuz he's my homeslice and i'll light one up with him anyday. whether he's real or not is your concern, not mine. smoke on it.

thats why we carry a cross, the symbol of his execution, around our necks.

i follow christ the same way blacks follow mlk or potheads follow marley, because they were revolutionary. christ declared his death a sacrifice to god to pay for all of the world's sins. wouldnt mind sharin a spliff with a fellow like that

If he had been shot, or executed by a firing squad, would you wear a symbol that looks like a gun around your neck? :smokin:

"In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him."

And to add to your idea Doesn't god want you to NOT worship idols? God's son was an example, he is Lord and King but put in charge by God and we are told to ONLY worship God and Not Idols.

Is Jesus an idol?

Why did people who believe in Jesus worship him?

Is Jesus not God?

Is Jesus an idol?
Matthew 7:15-20

Why did people who believe in Jesus worship him?
Matthew 4:8-10 Revelation 9:20,21 & 4:9-11

Is Jesus not God?
Matthew 11:25-30

#1 When people make images of him everywhere and forget about what his life was for and his FATHER, then yes people have made a carved image of jesus that people worship or a IDOL.

#2 People followed Jesus, it wasn't tell about 200+C.E. that the Worship and Image makeing started.

#3 No read your Bible. He is Lord and King to Rule Everything but he has a Father and he is the big guy. Jesus is Who he is Because of his Father and he does Not want you To forget that.

Why did believers in the new testament worship Jesus?
Jesus is the Son of God. We should worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth.

What scripture you talking about? Jesus never wanted anyone to WORSHIP Him. He even ran when the people tryed to make him king. So when did JESUS ask people to worship him? Or even allow it to happen? People gathered to Learn from the Great Teacher.

Do you read the bible? It's all over the new testament. Here's one of many:

"And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold,
Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him."

Does Jesus ever reject being worshipped? Why would he? He is the creator, and he deserves it.
I think our disagreement is based on you not believing that Jesus is the Son of God.

Worship denotes to me some kind of Sub-Dom thing going on. Nothing is better or worse than me. Religion puts god at the top and there is a boss-servant chain all the way to the dregs at the bottom. That is old school man. Now is the time for equilibrium.

Jesus, is not dead, He is alive and well!
I can see how satan has been doing his job of separating man from God through ignorance and shame, most do not believe in or pray to God, because satan makes them think it's too strict or boring, evil is fun.. lol.. if people only knew, How Loving God is, and how He works with us, He is the Loving Father we all want. I smoke herb, and still feel the love of God.
