Growing outdoors?

im wondering if i could grow in my back yard, we have some woods that like, no one walks through between me and my neighbor (its a lot of woods). id obviously have ot find an area that gets a lot of sunlight, but im just wondering if the soil would be ok, or maybe i could add some better soil at the area where ill be growing... all i could find on youtube was mostly indooor stuff (although i didnt spend a lot of time looking cus i dun have much time right now). anyone have any suggestions? :D
