I have hesitated for quite some time to post this thread, because this band is so revolutionary most people will not be able to understand it. The band is called "Unexpect" as the thread title suggests and it is.. to say the least, heavy. Fans of Slipknot and System of a Down stand a good chance of enjoying it, however it requires a good deal of musical understanding. They are a supergroup consisting of, I believe, 11 members, all of them essentially the best of the best. The bassist uses a fucking 9 string bass guitar.. thats outrageously insane!
If I remember correctly their album "Un a Flesh Aquarium" is the soundtrack to somebody being anesthized for surgery only to wake up in the middle to an alternate reality.. its not just a compilation of songs, its an entire experience from beginning to end. Every note that they hit is perfectly executed; sustain, tone, delivery, timing... its phenomenal. There is a plethora of instruments, not just the standard ones most people are used to. It is an orgy of orchestrated symphonic musical perfection. It has no genre, as the eclectic variety of musical influences is unbelievable. What is even more amazing is how they seamlessly merge them altogether as if that is how it was meant to be. It is a genre of its own.
One of the singers is a female with a strong operatic background.. and she nails it.. add the growling and other vocal effects from other members and... well.. I cant explain anymore.
For those who feel they are musically experienced and enlightened enough to handle this sonic balance of harmony and entropy, check them out. For the rest, it will probably just sound like a bunch of noise.
Unexpect.
They have a myspace, and at least one song on projectplaylist.com
