Be advised that clicking this link will give you information that will enhance your life beyond what you thought was possible. And even if you think "anything is possible" then it's even more possible than that. But don't tell anyone because it's a secret. (http://www.guruyou-u.com/)

The Secret has the right idea, but blown out of proportion.
IMHO:
1. You can't just envision and believe, and it will happen. You have to make a real, dedicated effort to develope your mind and truly control your mindstate. Just thinking possitively doesn't mean your mind is truly thinking possitively, you need to dig right into the subconscious and shape the most deeply burried gears.
2. Harsh overkill on the corniness.
and
3. I do believe in the law of attraction as it relates to the human psyche. However, it was grossly misrepresented when they illustrated mystical waves eminating from people's minds. There is no energy flying from you in every direction, no pulse vibrating a mile around you. If you want to really look at how the minds of conscious beings affect each other, think quantum, and think something closer to gravitation. I know there are experts on quantum physics who made this, but both What The Bleep and The Secret unfortunately used very vague explanations that didn't go nearly deep enough. Maybe that's as far as most people's minds can stretch though, I don't know.

Did you steal this post from one of my other posts on the subject, or straight from my inner monologue??? Nah Im just playing but in all seriousness, but Im pretty sure I was going to post close to a word for word identical post to this. And I might have even verbalized my sentiments about this video a couple times before, once possibly somewhere on this website. I cant help but chuckle when people come to me wide-eyed because they just saw this video and they now think they are 100% enlightened. Its kinda cute I guess.
Rep for this post.

I was enlightened when I first saw it, and for good reason I suppose. It wasn't just my longing to know the way for life, because it does bring up some relatively good ideas. Take positive thinking, for example. It is as simple to do as it is to read the phrase, because thinking is basically your experiences and biology bundled up into a large audio-book that is always on repeat. Sure, you can break the cycle but first you must recognize it. Once you realize the thoughts that echo back and forth in your cranium are like clockwork, then you can begin to alter them gradually, and every day. It's a superficial concept that is effective if you're aware of your own negative thoughts.

Hmmm I think you misunderstand what I was saying. I was speaking more about my friends who watched this movie that tells them all the things Ive been telling them for years, then come to me preaching all the same things I tried to teach them as if they are THE guru of enlightenment, and I am their pupil.
If I had seen this video in middle school or the beginning of high school, before I had come to many of the same or similar conclusions presented in the movie, I would have felt just as enlightened. However when I watched it, I simply felt happy that somebody else was getting these points across.

I can't watch the film for some reason... grrr.
Anyways the Secret was decent, but yeah, blown way out of proportion. The universe will not realign itself to suit a person's needs :P
Random thought:
There are no teachers and pupils in life. It is simply those who are willing to learn and those who are not.
Better yet, we are all pupils in life.
Relevant:
Quoting you was unnecessary. I read "100% enlightened" and I instantly related to it because when I watched the video I was shocked, actually I cannot explain the growing paranoia, guess I just did, anyway. The video for me is more intriguing than instructive. It gets me thinking about this irreverent generation we were thrown into. Someone saw an opportunity to make a buck with motivational seminars, etc. Just another example of corporate America exploiting citizens vulnerability. And more to the point, the secret actually works! Tons of testimonies are sent in everyday, thanking the creators of the website for putting this information on the web. But in reality, the secret is it's very own testimony of the human spirit. All of this information can be found in a bible, is taught throughout adolescence. So why the sudden urgency to change? If it's the truth I'm going to get to the bottom of it.

My AP Bio teacher showed our class "The Secret" video this year. After he showed it to us, our history teacher asked him "So, you're going to tell ur class this is all bullshit, right?"
I think the video has some good points, but its the extreme way they prtray them that makes it so sketchy.

It's just to get your attention. They use tactics like that on television. I mean, even the boring-ass news has been spiffed up to the point you think you're watching an action flick. And don't get me started on the food commercials. Fuckin' shrimp flying all over the place, fries and hushpuppies dance & sing. That shit had better be cooked and on a practical dish when I get there, motherfuckers.

our entire universe- one fabric of energy - is like a mirror. The universe is ALWAYS in perfect alignment with each person, not because it is working towards that persons' needs, but the outside world is simply a reflection of your Self.
How wonderful is this gift? We are stuck with a reflection of our SELF, purely our creation, for eternity.
No matter where you are in life, you created every single situation you were in. Accept yourself, and everything you created and make a conscious effort to improve your life in any way you deem necessary. If you start, from today, to think positive about any future outcome for your life, and KNOW that you have unlimited possibilities it will lead to success-- YOU MUST TAKE ACTION THOUGH, take responsibility for your problems and your DESIRES!!!

I wrote a whole essay about "The Secret" and how its whole premise is fraudulent. I came to realize that Rhonda Byrne and whoever else basically slapped together a whole bunch of material in six weeks but without knowing what they were saying. But no doubt, Byrne was dead serious about thought waves, quantum physics, and metaphysical nonsense. In no sense was anything a metaphor, just a joke. Remember, the original narrator of "The Secret" was to be a woman who delusionally believes she's channeled by a spirit (just like the whacko JZ "Ramtha" Knight who believes she's a 35,000 yr-old warrior).
I'd be willing to post the essay (in another thread) if anyone would like.

I can't stand that movie, no offense. We watched it in our socials class at school and all of the quotes are not relevant to the secret at all. They talk about Edison's quote on electricity or Winston Churchill's quote on the second world of war. Everything about this movie is complete hogwash. The only semi valid point is if you act in a positive way you can receive positive feed back. Dont Hate me its just I find this extremely ridiculous. Maybe if they show me some evidence ill change my decision. BAHUMBUG!!!

It probably makes a lot more sense if you've seen The Secret. My fave character is the woman who explodes saying "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!"

I think the first point is very true. We cant just manifest things out of thin air especially if we don not do something to guide our positive thoughts.
