View Full Version : Shorter Signatures?

I was wondering about having a limit on the amount of lines in a signature... I like seeing most people's sigs as it serves as another way to remember someone, but some people have very very long signatures, nearly a page on a 1024x768 res screen.

7 lines seems appropriate, but i may be biased :p

Im not sure if there is a way to limit the amount of lines, but theres already is a limit and i think its 500 characters.

Why should it matter though it doesnt take that long to scroll down? lol

It's not that big of a deal, it's just annoying to see a whole page of signature, it's a tad excessive in my opinion.

it's already time to change mine again. maybe this time it will be long or maybe it will be short. i can never tell until i'm done with it, but i do like the option of being able to ramble on if the need arises.

Yeah I believe the vertical space that is taken up should be limited. My reg computer is broken so I'm using an old one that takes a while to load each page. I don't know who else is using a slow comp, but it'd be nice to not have to load the second page of a thread so soon because of the lengthy sigs

I think you can disable signatures from your usercp.

Listen to the wise ol' Lion.......

Go to "User CP"...."Edit Options"...third box down "Thread Display Options"....that's where you can turn off the sig feature and never see them again!

Have a good one!

Is there a way to not view signatures past a certain length? I still like the sigs, just the big ones get on my nerves. thanks :)

why should we have to turn off ALL signatures, just because some ego-freaks have to abuse the privilege ??? there is NO need for someone to use a half-page, just because they can ...

We shouldn't.

I agree that the huge ones are obnoxious, and I find, for the most part, that they go with the personalities who seem to have the greatest need to appear to be making an impressive statement. They have to do this instead of making impressive statements in their actual posts, I guess. Or instead just saying nothing (which is sometimes the most impressive thing of all).

As problems on the site go, sig size is fairly far down on my list of concerns. That's what the scroll button is for.
