Tories highlight cannabis dangers in drug blueprint | Special Reports | Guardian Unlimited Politics (http://politics.guardian.co.uk/conservatives/story/0,,2121582,00.html)
I'm not sure I know what to say. All I could do while reading the article was shake my head.
The Tory leader has been convinced by emerging evidence that a strong form of the drug, skunk, is causing an epidemic of mental health disorders. A report being published this week by a Conservative policy commission will confront the issue, recommending an upgrading of the drug to class B
We know now that cannabis is incredibly dangerous as a drug
In the Sixties it was a much less potent drug, and now they have this stuff that is home-grown, which is at least 12 times more powerful
by the time you are 16 or 17 you will be in a psychotic state. It is an enormously dangerous drug, but a lot of middle-class families don't see that
What the FUCK.

Not good news :(
Definately not :(
I'm just trying to work out the possibilty of this report gaining any attention. I'm not worried about the tories coming into power.. The probability of that just doesnt register ;) .. But if this bullshit starts turning heads there may be something to worry about. 5 years in jail for possesion to worry about.

Hadn't really thought of that but yeah man.. I see how this shit could catch on... a step in the WRONG direction.

It's not strictly lies, there are strains out there that do contain extreme doses here in the UK. It just seems to me that they have embellished. It also seems that they are doing this mostly because of young children. Which is good, however they should be looking into why these kids are doing it. I'd say because of lack of government funding in their area.
Jah420 I agree mate, 5 years is excessive for possession. Then again I think 2 years is also!

PS: If Cameron ever stepped foot into the real world he would know that the reason it is just so easy for kids to get drugs is because they all have professional drug dealers who couln't give a shit about the customer's age or health they are in the business of making as much money as soon as possible, Thats what needs to change. I guess we should just be grateful our drug of choice is herb and not pills for example which are made infinitely more dangerous by unknown additives. IDIOT.
We all need to take into concideration this is comming from the man who tried it himself, and said it should be legalised for medicinal use.
It's bullshit - he knows it, we know it.
They can do what they like, but it'll reflect so badly on them they'll look like the idiots they are.
They could make it class A - it wont stop anyone.
If they want to target the kiddies smoking it they need to legalise it for adults over 18 [although i'd say 16] and then go after the dealers.
The whole argument about it being stronger is bullshit. It's what they use to get people on their side - people who dont understand ANYTHING about the subject.
The stronger it is, the less we need to get high. The less smoke we have in our lungs, the better it is for us. AND, concidering cannabis smoke has been proven to not cause cancer, and possibly help kill cancerous cells, the whole argument is a joke.
IT being stronger does not make it more dangerous, at all.
If it was weaker people would smoke even more, and they'd still tell us it's dangerous.
The whole thing is a joke, and IF they reclassified it, it'd be more trouble than it's worth.

social breakdown of society the MF cameron smoked the shit himself and denies it like a pussy.
I know who I'm not gonna vote for. Also where did all the good political parties of England go?

It was class B like 5 or so years ago. A totaly pointless excerise. I didn't read the article but going from the quotes they're only talking about weed not soap bar even though that's a lot more dangerous.
If they increase the penalty for carrying weed and not for soap bar then the people who are uneducated on the differences, kids for example, may just smoke soap, which may lead to alot of early deaths. So maybe they've got a cure for that pensions crisis after all.

There was only ever one, maybe 2. The only one that would have been able to run our country properly was the LCA but now they're a pressure group. We just need more pressure untill those twats pop and we can take over the gaff. I'm pumped for a fight now. Damn. Could you imagine the amazing, iconic moment you punched a big twat in the chops.
Cameron is a moron, and if the tories think they're going anywhere with him, and they're ideas on the world, they must be seriously delusional.

To those saying US may take similar actions, too late. It's already Schedule I (which says it's more dangerous that heroin, meth, and coke. Other Schedule I drugs are LSD and X).

Hollands had a tolerance law for MJ for over 30 yrs now and it's worked perfectly, and despite rumours will keep it that way cos they can see that Cannabis can be enjoyed socially just like our old friend Alcohol. f*ck me even the States couldn't hold down Prohibition , it's what the people the people want and eventually the message will get through. 10 , 20 years tops for decriminilisation in the UK and Europe

man cannabis is cannabis, whetehr its resin, (soap bar)buds, or super strong skunk its still cannabisone class for all.
besides i dont think they will change it, they just saying it to get everything riled up and see what the public think (basically see if the few years of super strong skunk bullshit has brainwashed ppl enough) and to be truthful i think even the media have been slagging the rethink, and besides they really dont want to use up more prison space then they have to ;)
lol anyway, lets hope it stays class c, though i wouldnt care if it was a.

The Dutch are intoducing a Smoking Ban Next July,,,,
I think that will afect the small coffee shops,,,,Rokery EG
So too say they wont change i think not,,,
Im not on about the public but the government are changing..
I know it wont get rid of Cannabis in the country but for those
who like too pop over for the odd few days it will have an effect considering i hear a lot of hotels want to ban smoking as well.....
Like it or not there is a change coming about and they are using the health argument to get rid of the open use off Cannabis in Holland..
Pls do just rebuck me if ur sitting there stoned reading this i see the
argument to reclass as an other attemp by the Politicos too
try too destroy our freedoms and if we just cast it off as bullshit id be concerned. They want us too just go too sleep on the matter..
Canada's Goverment are under preasure too cut off supply now the smoking ban in Holland plus has anybody cq'd out the hemp store in Nimbin? Thats got a smoking ban on it now...I can hear the answers
fk em ill kp smoking thats not the point the more they take our freedom away the more we'll pay for our herb simple as that it will have an effect by giving the dealers and supplyers a reason too push up prices.....Im concerned by the Proaganda thats been banded about in the past couple off months....
I live in Ireland and ive seen it so much latly and the Uk seems the same the same old bullshit rehashed its getting stronger blah blah
Ye so what. Like Lip said getting Stronger doesnt make it more dangerous but for the purpose offf Propaganda it sounds Great tooo The Ignorant,,,,,,,Shity times.....

In that guardian it says 15% of scitzophrenics aged 13-34 smoked cannabis. Isn't it a statistic that like 40% of that age have smoked it anyway. Surely its just a coincedence.
