For my first plant i went today and picked up some (even though i learned after i bought it it isnt highly recommended) MG 8-7-6 for vegging and a bottle of schultz 10-15-10 for flowering. Are either of this good or bad? Any input, advice or recommendations would be highly appreciated.

the shultz sounds like it would work pretty well, though the p could be a little higher. i think youll want more n for your vegg.(mg) too. just supplement it with something else, organicly maybe.

What your gonna want for the veg cycle is high in N like 2guysupnorth said, but not much else, though you should have some P and K too. The MG I would think is the better of the 2 for veg, but its still not what you want.
The shults would be good in the flowering cycle I would think.
Did you get them at home depot, or lowes? I was just looking through thier gardening centers today while I was getting materials for work, and they had a terrible fertilizer selection IMO or at least the ones around here did, I know others have been satisfied with thier products.

Yea i saw that megabloom booster stuff but i thought it was overkill and i didnt want to fry my plant so i was like eh. My seeds just cracked open i'm germanating them so i can finally plant em soon. So should i wait a few weeks before using the mg or start at like a week in or what? and what should i put in for more N?
Oh and to whomever asked about home depot thats where i got it from but i had to SEARCH the garden section for it all. the mg i really DIDNT want to go with cuz the low number but there wasnt much choice and there arent many floer shops round my area so thats just about my only choice. THANK U for the input

for organic nitrogen i use worm castings, there is other stuff like feather meal and kelp but i have never seen them in the local stores. google organic nutrients i bet you will find something.

should put about 1/4 cup of your piss in every gallon of fertilized water during the veg cycle. lots of nitrogen and i think some other trace elements in it. gives it a real skunky smell when you harvest too

Ferting w/ urine really isn't a great idea- the nitrogen in urine is primarily in the ammonium form- way too hot for application w/o proper titration.
Have you ever noticed that, in the spot where your dog pees every day, the grass is burnt? Or that if a cat keeps pissing in a houseplant, the plant'll die?

yea no offense but i was thinkin that might not be great. but then again he did say a fourth cup per gallon of water so maybe it wouldnt be too bad. although i might wait till next grow to try that cuz i dont want my first plant croaking on me. Ill google the nutrients thanks!!

i think i may try that on one plant, only one, and if it burns ill stop, if not ill compare it to the rest see how it works...

yeah some plant foods (like peters 20-20-20) have urea (urine) in them for nitrogen. peters 20-20-20 is great stuff for vegging
but thats one of the reasons i tell everyone to use this better-gro stuff for flowering ----- its UREA FREE : )

Supplementing your N with fish emulsion (yes they have it at box stores now, yay) is a good idea. It also has calcium that your plants will very much enjoy.
I have been using a flower fert for veg lately as an experiment, supplemented with fish emulsion to bring the N levels up, and so far everything looks very good. It has been a month now.
Oh edit, urea and urine are not interchangeable terms. Just FYI. Urea is a specific chemical compound, while urine is a solution of several different compounds.

Voices of reason people.......if ya need to piss go to the bathroom or out in the woods. Don't piss on the weed!

yeah and one of those compounds is urea : )
so when people are talking about pee for plant ferts its for the nitrogen in the urea. so in this case it is kind of interchangable.
most ferts use synthetic urea = but its still not something i would use on plants except during veg.

Urea is only one of the nitrogen-containing compounds in urine. There ARE others.
Using 'urine' and 'urea' interchangeably is misleading.

no, dont fertilize yet. after a couple of weeks give it a dilluted rate of fertilizer. you would probably burn it up if you started fertilizing now.
