when it comes to spicy, i'll try just about everything, i like using this when regular pepper's or sauce's don't cut it. i've heard a crazy story of this chick rubbing this shit all over her tung and around the inside of her lip( thinking she's real tuff shit) and ended up with fever blisters, and a real agonizing time. the craziest thing i've ever done was take a shot of tapatio, one of those long shot glasses. but thats nothing compared to this shit. anybody else have any stories or spicy thing?:eat:

I like vinegary tobasco, black pepper, ginger, and wasabi. not even really tobasco unless it is cheap an vinegary. i am not a fan of cayenne.

Like my mother.... she thinks tabasco is for pussies.....
That shit makes my lips burn for hours.

When I was on tour, I would keep a jalapeno or some thai peppers in a dish on the dashboard.
If I ever started getting drowsy, I just took a bite off the pepper, and ZING! I was good to go until I could fill up on coffee.
p.s. I put Franks on a lot of stuff (pizza, sandwiches, eggs, etc..), and I also use a lot of Indonesian Sambal when I cook. It's like the rooster sauce in the Thai and Vietnamese restaurants.

I have a bottle of that in my frig now. I also gave my dad a bottle of it a few years ago. He got confused one day as to how hot it was and dumped a bunch in his food and just lit himself on fire. He had diarrhea for 2 days and forgot the day before he ate some of it and that it burns on both ends.

There are a few things hotter than Dave's insanity sauce but not much. There's the Source which is just pure heat, like 7 million Scoville units.

I love heat, and spice. BUT, more importantly, i like flavour. With the right amount of heat, something can be flavourful, and hot. If it's too hot, you loose the flavour. I can happily eat chillies all day long though. Even scotch bonets.

I agree completely. That's why I prefer chipotles over all other peppers for the smokiness that they add to a dish. And also why I prefer Indian food over Thai or Korean- I think generally a well-cooked Indian dish carries a warm, rich spiciness, while even at restaurants in New England where we are comparatively bland, Thai food is just simply searingly hot, and there aren't the sort of soothing side dishes that even Korean food typically is served with. I like kimchi, but in tiny amounts, as a condiment. By itself, it's just not pleasant to eat.

There's a real sense of balance in Indian food- IMHO the world's greatest class of cuisines- where no one flavor is supposed to dominate a dish, and that applies to heat as well. I like to get a little sniffly but not start crying... OMG do I want some curry now...

I have a massive ruby every saturday night when i get back from work. Love the stuff. Been having it every saturday without fail since i was about 9 or 10.

Now when i ring up to order it they already know what i have, and i get a free glass of scotch while i wait to pick it up.

I'm a very big fan of indian food.

Us brits like it SO much alot of people joke about saying it's one of our National Dishes LOL.

Although alot of the curries we have now in England were actually created in England for our palate.

Indian take aways are as common as chippies now, if not MORE common.

I know for a fact theres 7 take aways within half a mile of my place in London.

Well then I may have to come visit!
I've only spent a very brief time in England (Portsmouth, during a tall ships thing, I was on a crew) and didn't really notice (too much Boddingtons will do that to you), but while I was in Ireland I noticed that most of the take-aways are Middle Eastern. Good thing I like lamb, eh?

Lamb is the best! My favourite meat is lamb/beef. I think lamb for everything other than roast - if it's roast i like a nice fat chunk of beef, all the trimmings. Lock, stock, the fucking lot!

If you and yeag do ever venture over here give me a shout and i'll show you about the gaff.

Absolutely- no doubt the two of you will have plenty to talk about- you know he's been driftnetting since getting back home to the frozen north? And I'm still dreaming of the perfect liveaboard sailboat, but TERRIFIED of marine engines... I think I need to go to LIP therapy, lol... help!!! Is the Volvo Penta as frightening as it looks? :D

Before the age of 7, all my babysitters were east Indian.
I literally grew up on Indian food.
I cook it myself at least once a week.
I make a mean Madras curry, and my Aloo Ghobi is to die for.

That's a first lol, scared of engines? People dont realise quite how dangerous mechanical things like that are. It's rather funny you should mention it, i virtually cut my thumb off today, went to the hospital and they said it wouldnt need surgery. Supposidly it'll heal on it's own? LOL - The thing was hanging off. I knew there was an artery there so i was a bit worried. One of the women in reception screamed at the amount of blood! I found it quite funny - i mean it hurt, but i think it was the shock. I'm still a bit funny now. Dont know how to describe it. I'm so clumbsy it's not out of the ordinary to bleed everywhere and nearly loose a digit.

Anyway, back to the engines. [I'm pretty sure you were joking about being scared]

There only low HP lorry engines, with a completely differnt gear box. I mean, they're build for boats, as theres more on a boat engine, but really you could put a marine engine into a lorry. It'd just go so slow it'd be a waste of time. I mean the boats only go about 6 mph tops on the rivers. I think the highest rev is about 4000, and thats the engine REALLY going for it.

Almost all of the engines i work on are Nanni Diesel, and a few Perkins, so i can vouch for how good and realiable they are. Cummins is another winner. Havnt had much experience with volvo engines, only the cars, but i see no reason why it wouldnt be just as good as any other.

If i had to give my personal opinion as for endurance and reliability i'd say Nanni Diesel.

The pics are obvious, one is a Nanni Diesel Engine, and the other is my severed thumb - it doesnt look like much now though. I gotta actually bother going to the docs to keep getting it checked for the next few weeks though.

And heres a pic of me from 05 working on one. I had long hair haha.

I wonder if the Pentas are more common aboard sailing vessels? You wrench on work boats primarily, right? Check your rep anyway. At least that thumb is still attached where it's meant to be...

I like spicy foods, and always have. When I was a child a friend who lived down the street and I would sneak her mothers peppers (don't even know what kind they were) and open them just to eat the seeds, which were VERY hot. I am not a big fan of "hot sauces", but I like to prepare meat in a spicy marinade, such as beef strips. My daughter isn't as fond of spicy foods yet, and sometimes she has to remind me if something is too spicy for her.

That's exactly right. I can tolerate a hell of a lot of spicy, but I'd rather have taste and some spice. I made some pasta the other day and added a JALAPENO....mmm delicious.
