This is a repost from general growing questions, didn't receive much feedback..so I'll ask the indoor crew (was meaning to spend more time here anyhow!)
I usually give them the higher PPM towards the end of the run... in the last three weeks I use my regular flowering nutes as well as "Shoot Powder" which is real high in P to finish em up and then flush them out.
I have a friend who told me he hits his peak PPM around five weeks, and then lowers it gradually and finishes in 8.5 weeks.
Am I doing it incorrectly by raising my PPM and blasting them at the end before the flush? I am working with SunShine#4 and Super Natural blooming nutes. I always let the leaves yellow before flushing.

1800 - 2000 ppm is about where I have them during the final two weeks. The plants are too late in maturing so over nuting shouldn't be a prob. Just be sure to flush very good or you will taste the nutes. Just my 2 cents. Maybe you should try both. One grow with the ppm's like whoa and the next one laid back or how your friend recommended to cut back. See the results for yourself. The pics are of the last plant I flowered. Good luck.

Nice looking herb my friend - good work. Yeah I am finding most people hit max PPM during the last few weeks, not exactly sure where he is getting his information from but he's been growing for like 10 years so I trust his opinion for sure.
He does NFT and can test how much nutes the plants uptaking by taking his PPM frequently, and he said they peek out at five weeks, and then slowly need less and less nutes. Kind of interesting.

I ALWAYS have at least one plant that i experiment with in each grow. Sometimes when i find males i take them out and save them to do experimenting on. growth pattern etc. Its helped me out alot. i aslo learned how to clone using males. It may sound silly cloning a male but it took alot longer to get the cloning thing down and i didnt jack up my ladies

Can anyone else comment when they hit max PPM? I burned mine a tiny bit with 1200, gave em nothing but PHed water for the last two waterings. Tonight I gave em about 800 PPM, feeling that is a bit low but I really don't want to burn them again. I am thinking I may max it out at 1000 ppm but isn't that short changing them a bit?
How soon after watering does nute burn show up? I could experiment with one and see what happens.
Your plants (the leaves) look pretty damn burned, but like you said it doesn't matter that late. Does anyone else do that? Obviously a solid flush is needed if you really push them at the end.

Too hard to answer. It depends on the strain; How you are growing; What nutes; What stage; How frequently you water; and only the plants will tell you when you are messing up.
