So there was totally just an accident outside of my house. I heard the tires squeal and the crash but I didnt see anything. A taxi slammed into the drivers side of another car. Luckily it didnt look like anyone got hurt. There's a bunch of cops over there now. I've never been this close to an accident before.
We get them every single day in London. In one day i had 3 outside my house - IN ONE DAY!
And we've got sirens non stop all day in London, it does your head in sometimes. Especially when they keep going past - it's so damn loud. You can sort of ignore it when it's in the background.
We got alot of people run over too, the amount of times i've seen people knocked off their bikes and run over in London is stupid.
Glad to hear no one got hurt!

i've been closer o.0 i was in a car that flipped.... and when hurricane rita hit... and me and my wife's sister's husband went to go get drink/food/cigs (all the power was out, no traffic lights) this one truck completely plowed into a suv going about a good 60-70... spun the truck around about 900 degrees and the truck finally stopped at a perpindicular side street....
i thought for sure they were about to start fighting... the guy who hit the truck (who didn't yield btw) was all pissed off... it happened before i knew dane cook... but when i saw one of his jokes it reminded me of it...

Yeah thats true, cars are very dangerous and theres a lot of shitty drivers out there, who dont look or concentrate properly or dont use their indicators properly.

Cars are deadly vehicles. Far more deadly than guns or knives. And, like with weapons, people do such stupid things with them. If it's a bad accident, it changes entire lives and futures. But if it's a minor one, even then, it's an administrative nightmare dealing with repairs and/or insurance for a good four to six weeks.
Were you amazed by how loud it was when it happened, Nap? That's what's always gets me when I'm nearby enough to see car accidents happen--the noise.

Yeah, I was surprised I could hear it so well inside over my very loud AC. It was the first time I had ever heard or seen any problems at that intersection. Since then I've heard screeching wheels three times. It could just be that I'm paying more attention though

If in the future there begin to be more of those sorts of problems at that intersection, like if there are more than three accidents within a month, that usually means the intersection itself isn't properly signed (like with four-way stop signs) or the traffic light cycle is off. Or that there's never any patrol coverage to make people slow down and follow traffic code. If that were to happen, you can call your local police department's traffic division and tell them there's a problem intersection nearby and ask that they do a quick "traffic study" that should help identify and solve the problem. That's one of the good things they do with our tax dollars that helps save lives!

It seems like a common joke but people down here(south florida) have issues when it comes to driving. I always hear tires screech around my area. Sometimes you hear the metal crunch and sometimes you hear nothing but horns.
I'm glad to hear you are okay. Sometimes the crash sends cars into homes around the scene..

There are tons of cops in the area (a bike cop was there almost as soon as I looked out. He must have heard the crash too). People just go too fast down the main road and do pay attention to the cross streets. There isnt a stop sign or light there, so people have a while to pick up some speed.
What ever happened to doing 25 mph in residential areas?

Everyone's in a hurry. And they never think they're going to hit another car. Or a child who might run out. Scary.
Next time you talk to one of the cops (if you do) suggest a traffic study to see if they might need to install some stop signs. A study just means someone who knows what to look for comes out and observes the traffic patterns over a period of days to see what they could do to make it safer.
