I'm planning on doing a first time grow in my basement. I'm going to use bagseed and a large plastic planter. Can anyone give a newbie some advice on lighting? I've been reading about it and I've decided CFL's are my best bet for the moment, but how many should I use and in what way should I set them up? I was thinking maybe getting a few adjustable desk lamps and setting them up around it and keeping them on something so that they can be near the tops of the leaves. Any info or advice at all would be very welcome!!

How many plants are you attempting to grow? And what are the dimensions of your grow area?

i use clamp lights their about $6 bucks at wal mart and if your going to use cfl's get the 42 watt ones also you could look into an enviro light thats a brand theirs other ones out their they are large cfl grow lights they work pretty good depending on how many plants your going to grow will depend on how many you will need the more the better

If you're planning on growing just one, start out with 3 or 4 seedlings. It'd suck to put that much effort into growing a plant, only to get stuck with a male.
