Zappa stuff is great fun whilst stoned, or any sorta techno, or tool, or anything really. I couldn't decide on a favorite band, much less a song or album.

The joints i roll require an album not a song, and my favourites for smoking to would be Transformer by Lou Reed and Sounds of silence by Simon and Garfunkel If i had to listen to one song to smoke a joint to it would be Redemption song by Bob

I listened to the Trainspotting soundtrack the other day, and it's almost custom-designed for getting stoned. Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" is a great song to be setting up some bong hits to, and then you get eased into some mellow Brian Eno just as the high hits and you sort of go from there - there's music for all states and moods, so just feel it. I'd recommend skipping "Atomic" - although I can't say I even like that song when I'm sober.

i think "born slippy" is the best song on the soundtrack. it has that hipnotic trance-y sound. And of course, "choose life". i know every word ewan macgregor says. its a awesome movie.

Link Wray's "rumble" is great. "Blow" is one of my favorite movies. i can just see johnny depp's fine ass, tokin up.

Santanas "Europa" is badass!!!

dj scott project / dj darude's "Do you Wanna get High?"

now, that dying track by lil wayne is growin on me real quick... though it aint exactly a 'weed' song as much as it is a 'acid/pills/coke and dryer lint" song and I haven't fucked with any of that shit since highschool

One of my fave songs for this is "Comfortably Numb" or "Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd, being LSD and Weed users themselves, put a long of "hidden background tracks" in their music, which your ears are more sensitive to while high.

I cant believe only one person said "burn one down" by Ben Harper!!! Everytime we blaze at my place we put that song on first, its just so perfect!

Does it get any better?

"Herb the gift, from the Earth,
and what's from the earth is of the greatest worth.
So before u knock it, try it first.
and you'll see it's a blessing and it's not a curse.
If you dont like my fire, then dont come around,
cause i'm gonna burn one down."

Also, anything from Joanna Newsom. She plays the harp and has a pretty high pitch voice, but I love her. About 90% of you will not like her, but the 10% who will will listen to her dialy.

Nobody claims that Dynamite Hack wrote the song. They redid the song in their own fashion and they recorded it so people could listen to it.
And I think the mistake that most people make about the song All Along the Watchtower, is that it was written by Hendrix.

...slightly stoopid is sick.. aww yea good to see a fellow listener 'if this world were mine' is unreal.

I've mentioned in other posts....The Beatles all the way. they have so many different sounds and their live shit (though scarce) is flawless...If anyone is getting into them now check out the Anthology series especially #3. there are a lot of stripped down versions of classics like 'strawberry fields', 'a day in the life', 'come together' and many many more that simply blow the record versions off the map.

Burn one down is a classic stoner tune. Great lyrics.

you know, its not to sound racist, but a band that has been considered the music that white kids listen to, merely because they seem to be the only demographic for is.

Vampire Weekend. the song Bryn in particular, the whole cd is good, dont judge based off the first song, try the singles first. but if you have a nice enough speakers, nothing special just better than laptop speakers, or dont mind listening to them a little louder, this song is the shit.

They may be stereotypical stoner tunes, but there isn't much better out there. I must admit there is quite a bit of talent on the indie scene as well as bluegrass. Pink Floyd definitely isn't the extent of my musical taste, but the mainstream stuff that is out there is, for the most part, generic cookie cutter bs or there for pure shock value, ie Lady Gaga. That's no lady.:S5:

Its a Plant
08-18-2010, 12:10 PM
I agree with you that there's nothing to offer anyone in the mainstream market, but there are plenty of bands both past and present that put Floyd to shame (imo of course). You just have to find them. That's why PF is so popular; they're easily accessible to the general public (mainstream, if you will), while the smaller lesser known acts slip through the cracks.

budlover13
08-18-2010, 06:10 PM
Touche! Yes, there is some amazing talent out there. $ different people I went to HS with are currently making a living with their music. Some is cool, some not so much. It all comes down to individual taste(IMHO). I'm having lots of fun just cruising the net and looking up new artists of all genres of music. I know alot of musicians don't like the internet because of piracy, tm violations, etc., but I'm glad I have it available online. It's quick, easy, and most imortantly, it forces musicians and bands to put out more quality music instead of 1 or 2 songs out of 15 and it costs you $20. Instead, now you pay per song and don't have to purchase the fluff crap on an album.

I love Derrick & the Dominoes. I really like anything with Clapton. One of the main reasons I'm so hung on PF is the fact that I can listen to a CD from start to end and love every minute of it. Not just one album, but pretty much all of them. The only time I have to mess with the music is to change cds or repeat a song I'm particularly fond of. Peace and enjoy whatever you listen to. Open your minds to ALL forms of art and see the beauty the world has to offer. Peace!:smokin:
