Hey all, Heres the deal. fifth week of veg growth from seeds these are my babies, NLxBB, and God's Treat. Fox farm soil, 400 watt hps and two 3800 lum cfms, 24 hr. cycle. Using Fox Farm Grow-big nutes' in three gallon pots. Average temp is around 82F 40-60% humidity. Dry ice (CO2) once a week. Ph 6.5- 7...I water about every other day and I'm seeing a good bit of growth. But these purple stems and the lower leaves turning yellow to brown are freaking me out!!!! Anyone have some ideas...I've read so much that I'm in a tizzzzzz...

Hay thanks LLamaman, I appreciate your in-put. I looked at all kinds of CO2 gens and just couldn't sport the cash. Dry ice is just frozen CO2 and I can put a fist size chunk of it in a bowl near the top of my grow space and just let it melt away, cools the room a bit as well I suppose, but my temp seems good. I'm thinking that I need to increase my nutes as I'm only using like a quarter of what is recomended by the lable. Keep the advise a commin!!

Thats when the plant starts budding slightly.

Dry ice is fine just be careful how you handle it, it can really burn your skin. The lower leaves shouldn't start to die until well into flowering

sup weedcollegegrad, have you tried looking at overgrow facts (http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/1382)? if not scroll down to the phospherous defecincy. it has a pic with browning patches, purple stems, and dark green leaves.
hope this helps

purple stems.....? definitle sign... ...
watering every other day sounds like a lot? (but your plants do look GOOD)
Are you letting the top 2 inches of soil go bone dry?
Are you using enough Nitrogen?
Did you add perlite to the soil?
good luck : )

Yah we had the purple stem thing going on...but I hit them with some 5-1-1 fish emulsion and waited a few...they got greener then the bottom leaves started to get really yellow and I just went off...!!!! I did an emergency wash-out and then used a mild epsom salt coctail on all my babies. The yellowing stopped almost immediately, and so now I'm holding my breath. NLxBB, and some God's Treat under 400watt HPS. This is all taking place at about seven weeks veg and the light is now on 12-12, just gotta keep um small enough to manage. All seems well for now. I plan on using Fox Farm Big Bloom half strength for a while and playing them some nice tunes...ha ha!!

dont worry about the stem, probably genetic. One of the most overrated indicators out there

your over watering. try to flush the soil and put them back under the lights and let the soil dry out at least the top three inches untill you water again. try to cut back on the neut's till the plants start growing more and the leaves start looking healthy again. hope this helps

Progress thus far: at about 20 days into flowering, I removed three males... :( . I had another that I was almost sure was a hermi, and I removed it as well...to the drying room. I now have all NLxBB females and one skunk that refuses to dye...so I keep it. but now I'm seeing a small bit of yellowing at the tips of my best plant and one that is just un-happy all the way around with spotty yellowing leaves. But I must say that bud production is amazing and I'm seeing about an inch of growth a day!! Check out yesterdays pics

Heya Weed, I didnt see anyone ask about your soil and what is in it. Seems to me you are feeding them good nutes but if the soil contains compost and other time release ferts you could be over feeding them. that might explain that very unhappy one in the corner. Also that all act different to growing conditions, so that will explain why some are doing well while others are not.
Tell us what you have in those pots please)
