so i have 6 2 week old plants in a square 8 gallon rubbermaid tub (spaced 3-4 inches apart), they're only like 4 inches tall but they're soooo wide and bushy, i didnt expect them to grow this fast. ive decided to move 2 out to veg alot longer and clone for my mothers, but the roots look really tangled with the plant next to it, will this prevent me from transfering them? or is there some way around this....

ok, i just read the thread about tangled roots, this is what latewood said

good info here. If you want to grow multiple plants in a tub...you must wait until you have a sexed female Mother plant, then do it. Root tanglement is a real problem when growing more than one plant in a tub...you might be able to sex clones in time, but I doubt it. 1st...clones cannot be taken until plant is at least a month old...by then there will be roots everywhere. If they tangle then you have to cut the males out and that will leave dying organic matter in your rez as well as choke out some of the other roots...

And, as mentioned above...You can grow 1 or 2 and get just as much yield, probably more with less plants. goodluck

since i didnt read this beforehand, what would be the best route to take as far as getting a mommy plant?
p.s. i want my mommy in hydro

Wait untill your plants have 4 or 5 true setts of leaves. Then go to 12/12 on your lights. Wait untill you see nuts or white hairs coming out of the croch in the branches. You may already know that. Take out the ones that are males with nuts. Cut as much of the root off as you can. When you see the white hairs on females go back to 16/8 or 24 hours of light. this will put them back to vegg. Then you can take what females you want for mothers and cut the roots so they hang in the water an inch or two. This will only set them back a day or two, it doesn't hurt to cut roots back as long as they can get to water. I have done this before. The rest of the females if any you can put back to 12/12 to flower with a rez change and a good dose of hydrogen peroxixde to help with dead root in the water. You won't have many dead ones so it won't hurt that bad. Now you have mothers for cutting that can last two years or more.

Hope this helps and let us know how it's going. This help others to learn also.
Peace man.

If you get it from a drug store I think it's 3%. You can add 2 to 4 tablespoons per gallon. You can get food grade that's like 30% but it's hard for me to find it. Remember it's just putting more oxy in the water, nothing in it that hurts plants. Rotting roots takes oxy out and you put it back. I used it in every rez change through the whole grow. You really only need it for a short time but keep using it.

Peace. Let us know.

well i took the 2 mothers i wanted out and into their own tubs before i put the rest into flower, just cuz these looked so much better that i wouldnt want the others for my moms anyways.

I changed the resevoir and put in 2 tbsp per gallon of 3% h2o2, but its been 5 days since i cut them free from the tangled mess and my roots have changed from pearly white to...well, not pearly white:eek:... take a look...

Slimy roots are a sign of algae growth. If you havent already, read the section entitled "How can I stop algae from growing in the bucket?" to prevent future outbreaks of algae growth. To correct any problems with current algae growth, follow the simple instructions here and the problem should be corrected in a few days.
 Make a solution (the amount equivalent to the size of your bucket) with plain water and 10ml of H2o2 (Hydrogen peroxide) added per gallon of water.
 Empty the bucket containing the algae growth and scrub well.
 Pour the H2o2 solution into the bucket through the top of your net pot.
 Let this sit for about 1/2 hour and then dump and rinse through the top of the net pot with plain pH adjusted (pH5.5) water.
 Dump again and then fill with your standard nute solution with 5ml of H2o2 added.
 In a few days, when no signs of the slime are visible, dump the bucket and fill with your standard nute solution.

or what do you guys think?
p.s. despite the white you see inside the buckets, they are black with mylar wrapped around them, totally light-proof, and they stay cool....wtf...grrrrrrrrrrrrr...:microwave:

I would do what stinky says. It wion't hurt. The lttle bit of color can come from rez color too. I see your rez has a tint. Looks like above the water line is white. Big thing is what do the plants look like ? You got a good root system. Show us a pic of the plant. It looks like your on the right track for sure.

so what do you think of them at 22 days?

They look great over all. But I think the calmag will do the trick. Then they will be awsome. Yea keep up with h202 it never hurts.
