Did I get busted? Need advice

Ok, so here's the deal. I haven't smoked in over a year! My family left town, so I figured I light one up. I smoked the entire joint! Basically lost my mind, and....... "CALLED 911 ON MYSELF!" Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!! I actually did man, I thought my heart was going to explode so I called to make sure I would stay alive, cuz I didn't have anyone to tell me I was ok.

So anyway..... The ambulence guys show up, laugh their butts off and tell me their pot stories, while I'm stoned. They tell me I have nothing to worry about. then 3 sherrifs walk in my house and say they can be there because it was a 911 call? I didn't know what to do. I told them I smoked a joint that a friend gave to me. they told me the only thing they could do was give me a "money fine" but that was about it, they asked if they could walk through my house "to see if anyone else was there" I said sure, they did, didn't find anything. I told them I didn't have anymore, they chewed me out, all three asked me stupid questions, one even told me he remembered coming to my house for the same reason 2 weeks ago, which is totally stupid as I literally hadn't smoked in over a year.

So they all left my house with out giving me anything. Am I going to get a ticket in the mail or worse, from the ambulence or the police? I just don't want my family to come home and something comes in the mail. What is going to happen next? Thanks a lot guys.

yea man, me too, but can they send me something, if they didn't give me a ticket right there? they said my friend who gave me the joint could get arrested, but just taking it, (not buying it) isn't a felony, just a money fine. was out of my mind enough to call 911 on myself, but not enough to tell them my buddies name, jeez!

So the way I see it, I can't the cops even bothering to write up a report on what happened.

As for the ambulance, have fun explaining that hefty bill if you don't have health coverage.

A lot of the times..cops will tell you that kind of shit, to get you scared..hopefully scare you straight. LOL

but yeah, those ambulance bills can get pretty costly...I had one once for over $ 500 and that was 15 years ago.

I would call them and ask a few hypothetical questions, just to see. If so, you got some money to be earning.. cause those ambulace companies will hunt your ass down (collections) till they get their cash..

I can't say forr sure if you will or not as I'm not the officer.

I'm just saying that usually when you get a ticket for that, you get one written to you right then and there. Mailing you a ticket a day, 3 days, or a week after it happened doesn't sound right to me.

If you do get one though, it should come in the mail, so just keep an eye on the mailbox for the next little while.

As for ambulance, if you do not have health coverage covered under your parents name, you will have to pay for it, and if you are in the US, I hear a ride just to your house for the ambulance, is not cheap, and last I hear it was $1000, just to your home.

well, thanks for all the help, honestly, I'm not worried about the money, I'm an adult, own my house, and have a great job, I'm just worried about anything on the record with the police, and anything my wife might see.

If you get a ticket, it will not go on your record.

The only time anything goes on your record is if you were arrested, as in put in handcuffs and taken to the cop shop.

I have gotten a few alcohol related, drunk charges (not driving) tickets. I got like 4 of them in life, and none of them went on my record at all.

I still have 1 from like 4 years ago I haven't paid. I got pulled over once or twice since then, they check my record, and it comes back clean.

All in all, you have nothing to worry about going on your record. Tickets and fines are different than charges.

yeah man, whenever an ambulance gets called they bill you, unfortunately sometimes the bill can be pricey, so in the future dont call 911 lol.. but im sure you know that. As far as the cops, they didnt find anything, and didnt give you a ticket then so they really can't do shit.

I wouldn't worry about police at all. I know of one guy who was caught halfway through smoking a joint. The cop pulled him into court, where the judge looked at the infraction, looked at the cop, and told him he was wasting valuable courtroom time. Of course, this is Canada.

OK, either things are very different where y'all live, or--and this may well be the case--I've always lived and done paramedic work in very municipal-tax-wealthy communities. The only fees any of the fire departments or EMS companies charge here in urban-suburban Texas are when the medics administer actual monetarily measurable medical treatment, such as bandages, medications, oxygen or breathing treatments, and when they transport you in the ambulance. Once they treat you and roll with you, that's when the $500 and $1,000 bills start to come in. When they respond to a call, that's considerered their normal, routine community service day-to-day work, covered by your tax dollars. You can call your fire department and confirm that, Howto, and set your mind at ease on that count.

P.S. The sheriffs who showed up heard the story of what the circumstances were on the radio the medics use. That's why they showed up mysteriously. You can bet they all had a wonderful time laughing about that call.

:) I'm really glad I made everyone laugh. I definately needed your help! So my boss is a real ass. I needed his help this week and he wasn't there, so I decided to fly to another state to see my family. I figured if he wasn't there, how would he know I wasn't. He called me on my cell, home, and emailed me to call immediately, on Friday! CRAP! I got back into OC this am, left him a message that I didn't get his call, just his voice mail, and sorry I missed it. Now I can't smoke, cuz I'm waiting for him to call and chew me out, and based on my last story, I obviously can't think strait under the influence. So believe this or not, my buddy smoked a joint, then ate a brownie and a half, (there was a quad in 9 brownies) he was out of his mind for almost two full days. he had been drinking also. Just asked the ambulence guys! I was getting some food at Ralphs and two paramedics were in line behind me. I told them the story, hypathetically, and asked if "my friend" was going to get a bill in the mail. They said not in this city, unless "he" was transported, so NO BILL FROM THE PARAMEDICS! :) CONFIRMED!!!!!!!! Since we all don't think anything is coming from the cops, I believe this was a stupid mistake and I'm very fortunate to be off completely free!!!!!!!!!! I've od'd on a bunch methadone pills and 3 8balls of cocaine while on parole and didn't go to jail for it.

You pretty much don't go to prison or get in any leagal trouble with an OD unless they can get you for something besides being about ready to die. Unless you're carrying enough heat to take out a barracks or have a pound of meth up your ass while morons are busy making sure there's an epic production and a big ambulance bill you're good. Just gonna be laid up for a few days while idiots come run up the bill some more for ya. They coulda gotten me for a parole violation but they let it slide since I called them and told them I fucked up as soon as I woke up.

I'll be level with ya. Anyone you called thinks you're a dumbass and also thinks you wasted their time. Might even wanna punch you in the head for being stupid. They don't wanna send you to jail, tho. If you're under 18, no tail or nothin, noone even knows what happened but your doctor and your parents.

You can't even be forced into counseling since you didn't really do... anything. They can suggest counseling at your point. That's about it. You wouldn't even have to go its like I said the people you called just think you're a special ed student.

They laid me up for 3 days on an OD and when i asked why the trauma nurse just told me "You OD'd. People have to come talk to you now." (<=lol) Those people are shrinks that decide whether or not you're set on blowing yourself up or something. Those guys are trouble. They can commit your ass to a ward if you OD. I mean, to be honest, you'd know if you were in trouble because right now you'd be sitting in a nut ward or a jail cell or you'd be reading a court summons.

You will end up with an ambulance bill regardless and if you gave the cops your shit you'll get a court summons in a week or so from the time of the incident, but, it souncds like you just pissed the cops off and they didn't get any evidence so you're clear from a real court case since the cops have nothing to show a judge and if they call you in to testify against yourself well you just say nothing ever happened you just called to see what they'd do or something (not a smart thing to say but calling 911 in the first place wasn't either) because its not your job to incriminate yourself for the state. I dunno what all this "money fine" crap is... Prolly meant if you gave him a 50 right there and then he wouldnt call a caseworker on your ass lol
