So, while this is Indepedence Day for most people in the US (Happy 4th), I am making this my Special Independence Day.

Independence from CIGARETTES. :yippee:

Boooooooooooooo, cigarettes. Bleh. I wish I had never started. I've been smoking off and on (mostly on) for well over a decade. I'm not that old, but I started young, and that is the worst thing. My mother smoked in the house during my whole childhood, so when I was 11 or 12, I started by smoking her left overs... :(

I've taken a couple years off, but have always gone back to it. As long as I've stayed in the gym, working out and doing other things to keep me busy and active, my body has not 'wanted' to smoke. Then when I become more monotonous with life, work, etc...I get busy and lazy...and then smoke.

I've always had a ritual of smoking a cig after smoking herb, which I think mainly stems from the desire to cover up the smell. It's odd, cause when I'm in my home, I never smoke...not even outside. But when I go out to do things...out and about (eh?)...that's when I start smoking.

Here's some of my plan:

I plan to trade in my car and get a new one with a fresh car scent and no burn holes in the seats/floors.

I plan to avoid most of the people I know who carry cigs (they all smoke the same kind as me...bummer...temptation), but this will not be easy so this is where will power comes in. :wtf:

I plan to excercise on a regular basis...and vigorously too, especially because I am starting to train for a sporting event that requires me to be TOP physical condition (I think I'm screwed. :o)

I plan to eat healthier and more often. :eat:

I plan to buy a Volcano Vaporizer to help out with my lungs. I dunno when I will be able/willing to buy that, but hopefully I'll just bite the bullet and do it soon. I wish it was smaller and more portable.

I am downloading a file (I guess it is a stop smoking audio) that Cannabis Campbell posted, so I'll be trying that also.

Anyway, before this thread becomes a novel, that's my plan. Wish me luck. What do you think? Any suggestions or golden tips are very welcome. :D

It's as simple as you just stated...only I didn't do the exercise bit and it wsorked perfectly with out. Where there is will, there is a way. I just literally stopped cold turkey and it worked for me...not everyone works the same though.

:) Hey, guys. Thanks for the support. It has now been a week since I quit smoking tobacco. I wish I could say I have not smoked at all, but honestly I had two puffs a couple days ago, then yesterday, I had another puff, then threw it out, cuz I DIDN'T LIKE IT!

:yippee: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

So, so far it seems to be working. I started working out, which is helping, but geez am I sore. Oww, oooh, aahhh.

I'll have pinker lungs soon enough! :D

Good Job Fog!! There isn't any way in hell I could stop smoking just going cold turkey....I haven't gone more than 24 hours without a ciggie in 25 years till now and I have nothing but respect for someone who can.. ;)

I will keep you in my thoughts....stay away from the cigs... :wtf:
