CBS) By day two of Hillary Clinton??s two-for-one barnstorming trip through Iowa, she and her husband, the former president, had the formula down.

He set her up, talking for less than 10 minutes, CBS News chief White House correspondent Jim Axelrod reports.

??I know some people sort of say, ??well, you know, look at them, they??re old. They??re sorta yesterday??s news you know.??? Bill Clinton said while introducing his wife. ??Well, yesterday??s news was pretty good.?

Then she moved it forward from there ?? for half an hour.

??Well, if you??re ready for change, I??m ready to lead. And I hope to be able to persuade you to give me your support,? Hillary Clinton said.

But Bill Clinton??s presence on the campaign trail raises issues. First off, that he and his highly developed campaign skills could overshadow her.

??I think that the Hillary campaign has understood that, recognizes that he has some great assets,? Democratic Consultant Chris Lehane said. ??You??re already have the other issues attached to the campaign to begin with so you might well use him, use him early, use him to the greatest degree possible because I do believe he brings a lot of assets to the table.?

Of course the other big concern about bringing Bill Clinton out here is the baggage he brings with him: memories of Monica and impeachment. But that??s not an issue ?? at least not yet.

And not with these people at least ?? they are the Democratic faithful, and Bill Clinton??s their walking, talking link to what they remember as ??better days.?

They don??t see a guy with baggage out there?

??You??re damn right I don??t!? one woman in Iowa said. ??I see a good-looking man who I love ?? and woman.?

So for now, all??s good. They??re in front of friends. It??s when she must win over those who don??t share the golden memories that Bill Clinton??s value will be truly tested.

I got no time for Hillary but I don't know if having ol' wild Bill on the campaign trail is a good thing for her. Think I'll set up a poll.......LOL

Have a good one!:s4:

To the people who're going to vote for Hillary and the people who're likely to ultimately decide to, Bill's not baggage at all. Not even close. He's a rock star. History and all.

Yeah, I agree that his catting-around days are likely behind him. Both for circulatory reasons and because he came so close to losing his wife and daughter last time. He knows the stakes were very high then, and he knows they're high now. I know he's also done more work on himself in therapy since then to try and see what was motivating that compulsion.

I think it'd be hysterical for Bill Clinton to be the First Gentleman. Or First Husband. Whatever they'd call him. Internationally, he's well respected and well liked, and that'll be an advantage for her, too. But I can't exactly see him overseeing the table decorations for state dinners and coming out to greet the arrival of the yearly White House Christmas tree like the first ladies typically do--the social stuff. If she gets elected, I wonder how that'll shake out.

They'll be out being followed around by cameras and ambassadors.

Besides, judging from Bill's past history, about the only world leader who has a wife anyone needs to be worried about is King Abdullah of Jordan. Queen Rania is a hottie. Most of the rest of the leading world leaders' wives are matronly, middle-aged (or beyond) ladies. Bill's ego wouldn't let him make a pass at a frump. If Princess Diana were still alive and still married to Prince Charles, she might get a pinch on the ass, but she'd be 46 now, and that'd be getting sorta long in the tooth to be assuaging the ego of an aging, first-husband horn-dog.

I really believe he would behave himself. . . .

Hillary needs to go crawl back under the porch. Until Fred Thompson got drafted, it wasn't who I was going to vote *for*, it was going to be who I was voting against. The only thing that would make him a better candidate, would be if he got Condallezza Rice to be his running mate.

*NOTE* this is only my opinion, and I am actually straight and sober as I write this.
