I know this has been answered but I need reassurance! Will two 26 watt deep blue (sun light) CFL's work to grow 1, if so do you think it can handle 2-3? This is just for veg state, I have flowering lights, just running out of money :) hehe!

Thanks Tons everyone!

It depends a lot on whether you have reflectors set up. With mylar, and with the plants pretty close together, you could probably veg 2-3 plants to 10-12 inches or more. At the very least, you can start your plants on that, and if that's not working as well as you hoped, you can use the time to save up for a bit more lighting.

Ok, well heres the update I had like 5 plants or so and they slowly started to die off, they would shoot up to around 1 inch or so and start their first leaves. Then they would freeze for half a day and then start to dry out and die. The last plant I had had the two lights on it around 4 inches away from the top with the two 26 watt cfls and it just died this morning. It seemed dry and the root didn't seen strong. But I'm not exactly sure what its supposed to look like. Any ideas to improve the growth would rock!

Thanks!

I also have a small van in my cabinet for ventilation. Also another point I just read something and it said this could have something to do with over water... can some one point me to a forum on watering I still need to learn this because I think I did it wrong. When I started before I put the sprout in I ran water threw the soil damping it. Could this be a bad idea? Then I watered once a day.

Thanks!

You didn't go overboard with the fertilizer did you? I made that mistake with my first two grows. Overwatering won't do that unless your plant is literally drowning in water. You may not have had enough lighting. With fluorescents you want them almost touching your seedlings. Did you have any reflectors set up?

Well my set up at the time had two incandescent bulbs, flower lights! and what I'm thinking is they fried them and just took a little while for them to fall over and appear dead? is that possible? But yes now i started a new batch and i got CFLS they are right close, I just planted the first two today so i will keep ya posted.

Fertilizer, I didn't even use any the soil that I am using says feeds for 3 months so i figure it was good until the sprouts were a bit bigger, and stronger!

Any other help would be Jawsome!!

Thanks fellas

Well, I think we can all agree what killed your plants. Sorry you had to learn not to use incandescent bulbs the hard way...

Bluish CFLs are nice, because they'll keep your plant relatively short, and stimulate the production of chlorophyll. Good luck with that and keep us updated.
