it sort of baffles me how people could go their whole lives without really trying to make music. i know everyone likes different things, but honestly its one of the best and most free feelings in the world. someting id totally hate to live without feeling. listening to the notes pull together into a story, that makes me feel so relieved. and im not even good enough to the point where i could actually write my own music. but with what i can do, that is enough, man if any of you dont actually play music just give it a try! any instrument is fine. i think theres one for everybody. :)

Learn to play, but don't expect to be a rockstar just because you can play something.
P.S. You can write music without knowing how to play.

I play the drums and I want to for the rest of my life. One of the best feelings ever, and always worth the time. I'm going to pick up a bass soon and get down with that. And playing music is a billion times better than it already is high, so everyone here should love it.

That's what I've heard, but i haven't been high yet, so I'm definitely going to get the guitar out and get some good songs on my Ipod playing for my first time.

i play the guitar, acoustic and electric, but id liek to try something new. i want to try learning the ukulele, piano, and maybe the indian drums. not regular ones, i mean the cool ones you bang with your hands. and id also like to learn a thing or two about mixing and putting together music on a computer. all in that order.

btw, i can write songs, i just cant put them together with chords in a way that i like. i cant really think of tones in my head yet, i have to hear it played to know it.

i love love love music

i used to play the piano, and i'm a singer - i took voice lessons for years, can sing anything from arias to psychedelic and classic rock :) i was in a band this past year, but we had to break up because a majority of the members graduated and got jobs and had to move away. we were an experimental rock band. i just joined another band though - this one is folk music. i also played the keyboard a bit for my last band, and potentially will for the one i just joined, in addition to vocals :)

I love music but I'm pretty musically declined. I used to play a bit of guitar, but I stopped playing for a bit and never went back. I love to listen to music, but I'm too much of a right hand side of the brain person. Or is it left hand... the one that is into math and not into creativity, anyways, which is wierd, because I love being creative...

Writing you own music is a lot better feeling than playing someone elses. Im sometimes amazed at the music I make as when I didnt know anything about it, it seemed impossible.

i think if you play an instrument you can appreciate music better as you can relate to how its played

sometimes im confused how people can like a band and never baked out to their songs like pink floyd

I agree that everyone should learn to play music...it's therapeutic for me.

I've been playing the guitar for 12 years, and I've played in a few bands. I play lead in a rock band, and I also sing.

Hell, I would do that, but someone would report animal abuse, so I stick to the guitar.

i think i will try to write a song.
in my town, music creativity is sort of looked down upon by a majority of people (what the FUCK?) so its really hard for me to find a group to play in. i know no drummers, noone who can play the bass, and very few guitarists. though im sure i could find something if i looked in the right places.
fuck rap.
i saw this stenciled by a school where i live-
make music not war!
it made me smile :)

i totally agree, music is one of the few ways i can really express myself(the other being ganja) i started out on bass because it was easier for me but then i sorta went to guitar as my main instrument but occasionally pick up the bass i love guitar though acoustic and electric and i'm trying to learn some piano/keyboard have a little yamaha that i sorta fiddle around with but yeah everyone should at least try their hand and music and keep in mind that everyone starts out slow and awkward

I own a few guitars, synth, drum machine, ocarina, bongo drums, and a pretty good set of vocal cords. I'm gonna be playing guitar for a ska band in a few weeks and I also write my own music for myself. I plan on doing this fo rthe rest of my life no doubt
