I am writing today because I have another question. Should the hairs on the tops be turning brown before I actually have a bud?? They have been flowering about 5 weeks now and I am growing under a grow and show bulb a small 60 watt and it seems to be working ok. But I just have to know is it normal to have the hairs turn brown/amber colored before the bud is developed? Any help would be incredibly appreciated.
Thank you,

The pestil's will start to turn at about 5 week's anyway(depending on strain)but from
the look on your pics those are your buds, you won't get a lot from a 60watt lamp.Up the watts m8 you want at least 250 watts to grow anything tidy, use a 250hps if you can, hope this helps, love an respect SPLIFFBUILDER

Why is the light the only thing it seems that determines how much bud I get?? It's like a summer day in my cabinet why can't it just work?? Any suggestions??

The light you use must be the sun in your plant's world dude, have you ever noticed how very bright the sun is?? That being said, plants metabolize nutrients into the sugars and carbs that they need by means of photosynthesis, and that means that they need a very intense and color correct light in order to use the nutrients, water, and CO2. Quality lighting is the key piece of the puzzle. Here try this analogy: if you had a V8 in your car, would you put 2, 4, 6, or 8 spark plugs in it? Well you would put 8 in it or else you would be wasting alot of potential power, right? Well the light is like the spark plug in that it utilizes the rest of the factors in the equation to render the end product, BUDS.

That being said, go to Lowe's and spend $50 and buy a 70w HPS security light and rewire it for your grow room. HPS is sooooo intense it makes you buds grow bigger and the light color is good too.

What about the heat?? I am growing in a small cabinet 2'x3'x6' and I am worried about burning the plants any suggestion on how to keep it cool?? I already have a 6" fan in the cabinet to move the air around. Is this enough or do I need to do something else??

Also what about using a regular floodlight bulb out of a motion sensor security light?? Can I use this because I already have one of them??

well to counteract the heat it will create, use a fan  but seriously, I had a 150W HPS for a while, and if you put the ballast outside the cabinet it should be ok, and have a fan, even a small one blowing in between the top of the plant and the light bulb, that will keep it from cooking the plant.

As for the security light, what type of light is it? is it a Halogen, or Mercury Vapor, or what? If it is a Mercury Vapor it will work, however not as well as the HPS, or a MH. I am told that Halogen is bad for plants.

but if you want a better yield get the HPS, I mean it's only $50 and like $2.50 for an extention cord to make it a remote ballast. Trust me you will be impressed at the light you get from it, and your plants will love it. And I guarantee that you will get more than $50 worth of herb better of a harvest for having the right light.

I just realized that I also posted on your thread about Compact Floros, if your budget does not allow for the HPS try the floro thing out.

Hope this helps..
