I finished my last grow and would like the opinion of other growers as to the yield/area or yeild/watt efficiency.
2' x 4' area. 334 Watts T5, T8 flourescents. 250W HID for the last month of flowering. 18 Weeks total grow.
Yeild, 6+ ounces of clean bud.
High, very nice head high.

Not bad at all. Hows the quality of the pot? I cant rate it without a good estimate of quality.

Yeah, as long as you're pleased that's all that matters. The yield sounds pretty good. I'd be pleased. Do you have any pictures?

Quality wise, testers (friends) prefer this pot over the commercial (Canadian) hydro grown pot costing $250/oz and up.

So, any growers know what would be a good yield per sq.foot or per watt of lighting? I have seen it posted before.

final product looks nice, but looks like it could have gone on longer due to the low number of pistils showing their autumn colours. You may have sacrificed weight...
Work it out on a gram per watt basis.
I tend to accept around 500g/ half kilo per 600W of lighting

Always seemed to make the most sense to me to express as (dry weight/wattage)/time.
Using multiple large HID lights, consensus target was .6gram/watt/month.
If you did 6+ z , that's bout 182 grams, or .728 grams/watt (figured only using the 250 hps)
(.728g/watt)/4 months total =(.182g/wt)/month.
Keep in mind, though, that this formula doesn't allow for the lower efficiencies of floros and smaller HID lights. It really doesn't allow for veg time, and assumes unlimited access to cuttings. It's really a metric for flower room eff, not eff of total grow system. The assumptions are based on commercial production.
If you started from seed, and brought in 182g in 8sq' with that lighting, I'm gonna say you did pretty damned well.
Are you happy with it? I would be. That's what matters. Don't go nuts chasing #'s.
Also, keep in mind that differant genetics yeild differantly. The above goal of (.6g/w)/m assumes the use of high yeild commercial genetics. It's not too tough to hit running PP or Critical Mass in hydro w/ c02 and a/c- but you'd never get close running a white, even w/ all the bells and whistles.
To figure out sys efficiency, you have to first state a unit of output measure. Then you can start doing input/output ratios. The (g/w)/m metric only refers to dry weight at the end of the day- not what you learned, how much fun you had, how it feels to break out a stick of your own and level the room, the joy of sticking your head in the garden- all the intangiables.
So it sounds like ya did real well.

oh man, the metrics...(visions of ROI equasions) not as much fun as the intangibles. <G>
I also think the grow was successful for it's method, size and expenses. I think I will try a grow specific HPS system for my next indoor bloom cycle. I wanted to see what could be done with mostly flourescent tubes of the proper spectrum. I'm thinking of 400 Watt for a 8ft² area.
Homegrower, that "Z" plant was late, the others all were red/orange pistols. yes, it should have been left to finish. But, I did not feel like continuing the grow past the 10 weeks of bloom for that one plant. Trics were mostly cloudy and the buzz is very nice and the crop isn't cured yet.

I'll give your grow a 9 as well, you did fuckin' good, give yourself a fat bong rip, it's better than a pat on the back IMHO.
