That is the truth. When I'm high I always have wayyy more confidence than anyone else (or myself normally, for that matter) - I'll go out of my way to say hi to someone, even if I don't know them. And they're always pleasantly surprised! It feels nice to be nice.

I'm 60. 5'4''- maybe, and am a plump, sweet old granny lady! I help kids with math and school work- Nah, I don't think ANYONE is scared of ME! However, they don't REALLY know me! I have a dangerous mind! I get people to think! lol- Granny:hippy:

Whenever I cross a street on a crosswalk, and there's a lot of traffic, I just start walking forcibly, and make everyone stop. They're all too afraid to hit me, even tho I'm being a jackass. muhahaha.

Once you've spent a week out in the middle of the woods alone with nothing but a lighter, a backpack with extra clothes, a fork and a sharp ass knife fear is simply a nervous feeling you really tend to forget... (no cellphone, no flash light, NO ELECTRONICS.)

Of course there's worse situations you could be in but it really puts your instincts to the test. Helps you realize what you are capable of when your life is threatened.

So I decided to try it. I'm still alive and trust me, what they say is true. Natural instincts are undeniably the most powerful force on this planet. (except gravity)

Do I "fear" what someone thinks of me? Short answer, no.

Fear isn't the word for it in my opinion. I think concern would better suit what you're trying to say. Everyone has some sort of concern about thier personal image within others. Not everyone really responds to that concern, but it's naturally there whether they like it or not. It's an instinct...

Indeed... once ive read that there was a poll that showed that the greatest fear of people is talking in public, and the second greatest fear is the death. I think this results agree completly with your statement... yes... thats the toll of living a life based on the self-reflexion...

Anyway, this results leads to an interesting consequence... people would prefer to be the dead one than the one making the funeral speech. :p

Indeed! A man's more outstanding feats are done when it faces its death... Only the imminent death give us our rightful power, so only face the death we really do the best of ourselves.

Well... i think for most people, "fear" is really the most suitable word... Concern is for few ones... like you... Anyway, i dont think its an instinct... i think its a thing we learn during our life, since birth and childwood... we learn to think our acts, our image is important, so we havent any choice else believe our acts and image really are important... and so we believe, and so we live based upon this.

I do that too! I call those kinds of people "Jesus peds(pedestrians)" because no matter where they walk, everyone stops.

But I know what you mean, a lot of people are afraid of me, it makes me feel powerful.

afraid of me, and the older I get the meaner I look, I have already lived the
big badass life style, and all I want is to just be a humian being, a father, a grandpa, and mabye a good husband, if I ever could find the right woman.

but Iam part of a dying breed, and are socitey has put old war dogs like me

Hi Uncle John- I think you are as sweet as Boo Radley. I have known many people who have overcome pasts as hard as yours. Smile and do your best to help others, and people will notice, maybe even a real good woman will see your heart. The universe will support you if you don't give up. :hippy:

So, keep this in mind when dealing with others today:)

I try to be as nice as I can.
But I can't help noticing the fearful and/or doubtful vibe I get from merchants or office workers. Or random people I pass in these places or streets.
Might be my strong latin looks or young age....but it's fuckin annoying because I don't do it to anyone.

They're not afraid of you. They're afraid of get charged with a crime, since it is almost always the driver's fault if they hit a pedestrian, as they must be alert to all pedestrians, at all times.

You, on the other hand, are not intimidating. You are, in fact, a douche bag. Be proud, douche bag. Be proud.

That is very true....
there is something down deep within us that causes this..
ever heard a teacher ask for a volunteer..you hear crickets..you know why? cause everyone is afraid of looking like a stupid ass, by raising their hand..there are a ton of differents situations just like that, that proves the point of everyone wanting to look good and to Never look bad...

on a side note to Coehlo, I think I know you know what question I am going to ask..do you want me to ask it out loud? or you can just answer me..

Darth Vapor

The question, "What do you fear most?", is a bullshit question. Some people will take it as, "What do you hate to do in life?", and some people will take it as, "What is the worst thing that could ever happen to you?"

"ever heard a teacher ask for a volunteer..you hear crickets..you know why? cause everyone is afraid of looking like a stupid ass, by raising their hand..."

Not a good example. I'd love to hear the same teacher ask, "If you don't volunteer, I will slit your throat, and you will bleed to death, right here, right now. So, who would like to volunteer, to speak in front of the class?"

I think you'd get a few more people volunteering to speak in front of the class, rather than death.

I am me and I do what I want because it's my life!! and if someone asked for a volunteer my ass would jump up and be like CHA ME! so fuck you guys that are all into what others think. I, guess im kind of like what jdmarcuss59. Was talking about. I also have a lot of tat's. I have been to the joint for a Long stretch. I try to put it behind me but you know how it goes. Im not the Bad Ass I use to be, or should I say I dont want to be that guy. My life has changed in so many way's. Im married to a good woman, and Im a new Grandpa. I still get stereotyoped quite frequently. And have a proffession That I basically do not use any longer. I went back to School Last year, Just so I can run my own Business. Being a Bad Ass was not Beneficial to me at all. In fact it was very Detrementel To Others, Myself, and most Important My Family. Words of True Lived Wisdom, Fella's I Promise. DarthVapor, that poll i mentioned asked what was the people's greatest fear. The number of people that answered that it was talking in public was greater than the number of people that answered that it was death. No person answered twice the same poll (or at least i suppose so), so when i said people would prefer die than talk in public, (that thing about the funeral speech), it was only a joke. :p

My question is...
about a couple of weeks ago I had seen that you posted a thread in the introductions...it said that you were a 19 yo brazilian female and that you didnt speak that good of english..
First, I know you speak great english
2) I thought I was sure that you were not female (I could be wrong)
3) why would you make an introduction after you already have 500 posts.
4) is that your girlfriend? That is what I was thinking
5) are you dona soledad? LOL
