ok these pics are of the seeds i planted 10 days ago. i am starting out with veggies and now sum bag seeds i got from my bro. is this normal for them to be tall like this?my light is 20 inches away in the day time and i use the 2 enegry smart 150's/42w 24hr for the seedlings that are hung right over the seed dome maybe 1inch from the top so i don't see the light being a issue and the light im using 4 the dwc are a 1000w and a 400w mh like u see in the pic. and then when im ready i have the 1000w hps in the middle.
from the first set of leaves another stalk is growing out of them here are the stats of the room.temp day time 75 to 80 nite 67.hum65 to 77 day nite 60 to 65 and the ph ppm and temp are that of the dwc i let it stay around 5.5ph to 6.2 ph as i said b4 i just wanted to start off with sum seeds i got 4 free and when i have everything finished and tweaked (with everyone's help)then i will start the seeds i bought from a seed bank (10 each of ww,ice,crystal,5 free seeds)any info will be great!!!;)

oh yea the nutes im using are advance nutes, m,g,b,with enngy's f1, hygrozyme,st, thats what i have gowing now and then i have sum calmag, budblood, horns'bybigbud, silica blast, koolbloom, carbo load.all the veggies and bagseeds i have planted are doing great nice green no burns or anything.
but the 1 bagseed i planted in the rocwhool was about 2 inches tall. and then i went in today and it was floped over. but all the other ones i seeded in the jiffy plugs are growing strong.whats with that? and i have noticed that the jiffy plugs sprouted 4 days sooner. and has white fuzzy roots out the bottem and the 2 i put in the rocwool took 4 days longer to sprout.
and still showing no roots so i split one open to see and it had 1 taproot about to pop out the bottem. but then i found out the day that u have to ph the rocwool. and let it soak in i just put seeds into them right out of the pack but would that really mess with the seeds?
palerider7777
06-29-2007, 11:11 PM
and the temp on my meter was when i first put it all together i keep it around 68 to 70

The jiffi cubes are better as you have seen, and the technique is slightly different for each medium.
You are required to soak your cubes before use the squeeze off the excess water. You shouldn't keep them too damp.
You shouldn't need to add any feed yet. Maybe all you might need is a little drop of root hormone (hygrozyme).
you haven't really asked any specific questions... Heng on I'll read it again...

thanks and i guess i was really didn't have a question. but more of waiting to see if anyone had a response to what i wrote. to see if i was on the right track with everything oh yea the ? i had above was is it the norm for bag seeds to look like the pics i have? or do all seeds grow like this (tall and thin)b4 they start to thickin up?

Your breaker box is crooked. LOL (Sorry, I notice those kind of things.) Actually you have a real nice grow-op going there. It looks like you've got all the bells and whistles.
Good luck with your grow!!!

well today i started 4 each of the ww,ice and crystal so i hope they take the ones i have going now the 13 bagseeds are still going but they seem to be getting taller and the 3 lil sets of leaves seem to be to heavy cause when i touch them they seem loose in the jiffy plugs and seem to want to lean i guess thats how there supposed to be??

You got the setup man. If the jiffy's work better use them. Some like rockwool like me because that's what I started with. I can't wait to see the whitewidow and ice and cystal. No nutes for two weeks and get the fluro's right on the tops of those sprouts. It keeps them from strechting.
palerider7777
07-04-2007, 02:50 PM
do u mean by (fluro's) the curly lights i have in the pics or tube lighting? i was doing the 2 curly lights for the seedling dome. about an inch above the dome should it be closer? so i should use just ph'd water for 2 weeks. i was putting a drop or 2 of each nutes +superthrive i had about a 10th of full nutes is that bad to do??i better go change it to water then
palerider7777
07-07-2007, 11:47 PM
ok i have a ? i read on a jorge's website about how to start ur seeds.was to put them in water for no more than 24hrs and then put in a papertowel and keep in a dark place.my ? is is this just the best way to get them to sprout?the reason i ask this is because i've just been soakin the jiffy plugs in ph'd water and then putting the seeds right in them. and then right in to the seedling dome and under the lights and they all sprout in about a day. and iv'e done all the seeds from veggies to flowers to bag seedslike this and they all sprout.well all but 1 ice seed i think i put it to far into the plug. and it hasn't sprouted yet so i took it out and there was sum green fungus lookin stuff on it.is that just a bad seed? or because of the way im doing it under light?and will sprouting in the light hurt the ones that do sprout in anyway down the line ??

Dude - If it works, don't fix it! If you are getting near 100% germination the way you're doing it, why change?

thanks for the post. im not gonna change it as of yet unless i find that it harms the plant later in i'ts life or something thats what i was trying to ask what is the reason for doing it like jorge says to do it ? my ?is i know (most of the time)there is a reason for doin things a certin way. my ? is by doing it the way im doing it does the light early on in a seeds life hurt it in any way down the line.sorry im good at overthinking things i think about whatever it is at the moment from all angles

07-08-2007, 04:39 PM
Keep doing what your doing , it works for you. Yea get you curling lights as close to the spouts as you can. You might want a few more of those light as well. It will keep the strech down and those lights won't burn them. The one seed with fungus just happens some times , maybe a little too much water. Who knows.
The other guy is just talking of a fast way to germinate and to make sure they open up. You must be vey carefull when you move them to the jiffy's that way you can damage them moving. So do what works best for you it looks good and your results are good don't try to fix it.
Keep us up your doing great.

another ? i just went and checked them and all are doin great. and startin to thickin up but 1 on it's lower leafs are wilting. and i noticed a white powder on them and on the clay balls. im guessing this is cal build up as i have seen it on sum of the clay balls that i have washed off b4. is there something i can do about this? i tried to wash it off but when it dried it was still there.is this something to worry about? i need to change the nutes i think i have'nt changed it going on 3 weeks now.i have just been topping off with ph'd water.any suggestions?

07-08-2007, 04:58 PM
thanks loc i when doing it the way im doing it i have noticed that when they sprout i sometimes have to pull them out and adjust them as the root seems to sprout up instaed of down.or sometimes the root curls up in the hole and i have to fix it but other than that they do great

hiya palerider hope yer babies are doin good, re changing the nutes, i've read that they should be changed about every 10-14 days, i've just changed the nutes in my aero tank and switched to a sep res for them, alot easier for me to check the ppm and ph etc. I'm not sure if it applies to your setup so i would check on that, but i'm sure it was for bubbler type systems that i seen it for. hope it helps,

LMAO...^
Dude, your set up looks very nice. I just skimmed through right now, but I'm going to come back and take another look later, but what kind of nutes are you using? You might want to consider going with Fox Farm's Organic Nutrients for hydro. They're the sheezie and organic. A little residue build up, but so good for your plants. :)
Otherwise...if it ain't broke, don't fix it...except that crooked breaker box. ;)

lol thanks fog some else has said the same thing about the breaker box. but it's not it was the way i was holding the cam. i noticed that i had to hold the cam the right way or i would get them lines in the pic from the light.
he's an off the wall ? why do u have to change the nutes if it's staying at the right ph and ppm? i mean i know that plants suck up more of 1 nute over the other but would'nt it show on the meter.my nutes started out at 600ppm and today(3 weeks later)it was 570 thats not off by much i don't think only thing iv'e done was top off with ph'd water.
oh yea fog... the nutes im using are advance nutes, m,g,b,with enngy's f1, hygrozyme,st, thats what i have gowing now and then i have sum calmag+,budblood, horns'bybigbud, silica blast, koolbloom, carbo load.all the veggies and bagseeds i have planted are doing great nice green no burns or anything.

palerider--first-off, props on your set-up! It looks first rate to me! Your last Q about changing nutes...the theory involved is that your going to all this effort to grow your weed as fast as possible(as opposed to soil). So you want to change nute solution often so that you ensure your not even slightly deficient in any nutrient. It's just another way to push your plants as hard as you can to get the very most from their genetic potential.
...my two cents
palerider7777
07-24-2007, 02:08 PM
so it's not that all the nute are used up in 2 weeks. but rather maybe 1 or more nutes out of all the nutes are used more than the others. so it's good just to replace all of it instead of trying to track down what one was used more than the others.

Things look great, but your stems look a little thin. It appears sativa dominant so that could be the cause, but you should have something blowing on them to thicken them up.
cool system!! I just have a ? of my one for u about ur drip ring. Is it supose to be that high? here is a pic of mine and its lower but if i raise mine I get a wet floor (towels smell moldy after some time) and so i keep it low -less water solution out, meane more in- right???

i have a fan on them and an air conditioner as well i have 3 fans in there blowing all the time but when they are in the dome there's no air flow thats why they were so thin and those were bag seeds too

Hey PR7777 ,
Looks good so far , got all the right equip. / toys .
As far as rockwool / rapid rooters = all about pref. more than 1 way to skin a cat . Stinky sold me on R/R due to more stable PH .
Your splashing on the floor from rings = Weedhound and I make plastic cvrs. w/ a slit -n- hole = raincoats for plants . This way we can run driprings fullblast w/o any mess . Theres a pic. on here somewhere ? Lazy from Wake -n- Bake = sorry .
Advanced Nutes rock but I use G/H cause Im a tight ass - 6 gal. jugs for 89.00 each . Before Latewood left us he Blessed us w/ the best 3 part nute recipe I have ever used , even benefits beyond the reg. Lucas formula . He claimed an easy 3/4 lb. bushes in 5 gal. buckets . I have yielded 19 oz. in w/f type buckets using his recipe . Im sure theres no reason his recipe wouldn't work w/ A/N 3 part too . You might wanna chk. it out .

update, well went in to check on them this morning and the water pumps were clogged. so i turned them off and just hooked up my airhog air stones and droped them into the res so now it's just dwc going instead of the spray bar. i think that should be good enough now, mainly to keep the nutes mixed up and to keep the water from standing still.
i did notice today i went back in to check and the 2 plants that were cloging up the pumps and the ones i had to pull the roots out from around the pumps i guess i broke sum of the roots off as the tops of just the 2 were drooping a lil im guessing it was because of the roots i messed with, as only the top leafs were drooping not the stalk and not anywhere else. so maybe i pulled out sum roots so maybe shocked it a lil or something, or maybe those roots were the roots the tops fed off of but i think they should bounce back.

ph is at 5.5 ppms are 1500 res temp 70
p.s i forgot to add that this morning i went to check on them around noon and my a/c was off i guess i hit the button somehow last nite and the temp was 100 for about 4 hrs but i had a fan blowing the whole time but i saw no wilt or drooping all seemed good

what u see here is the first time iv'e tried to grow anything i read on it for about 2 weeks b4 i started anything and as u can see...but i laso learn quick im the type of person that i can pretty much look at something and do it.my motto is i can do all things through christ which strengthens me.but i wold say start out dwc/areo it's easy to start but u have to make sure u have enough of everything like power to run ur stuff i installed a sub panel box i read a couple pages of a book and figured out the rest to hook the box up that way i don't burn nothin up and have plenty of pwoer to do what i want.
i wish i had a better cam as the pics are'nt even close as to how they really look.i also made my own carbon filter i should make a tut on how to build it, it cost me all of 25 dollars but i guess me being new and all i did'nt think people on here would take it for real.
i saw the diy carbon filter from bodem of children but the metal for that cost a good bit and it's way to small to reall do any good maybe for like a 3x3 room as i made one and my room is a 8x8 and it did'nt help at all so i built a bigger easier one that works great and is perfect and can be adjusted to work in a room 8x8 to say a 10x15 room.

I have read posts from Latewood and Palerider. I have to admit these are the two most skilled hydroponic growers I have seen on any of these forums and now they are gone. This is rather disappointing although I do not grow hydroponics or intend on it. I see the banned logo or whatever that is but I consider they have graduated from the forums to their own level of green thumb. Now they are PHD's and it is too bad nobody appreciates a professor anymore. You never know because you might learn something. I really would have appreciated their input being new to these forums as well.

Okay...
I don't know who you are, where you came from, or what your issue is... but LAtewood has moved to greener pastures where he is pursuing a valuable goal of teaching sustainable agriculture, and Palerider couldn't follow the very simple site rules.
Do NOT bump old threads to whine about bans. And neither of them holds a PhD... don't know whose bunghole you pulled that gem out of. You get a PhD from an accredited university, not on the internet...
