yes just buy a cuple of the swirly bulbs for a normal light socket buy 100 watt or the bigger ones they carry them at walmart...and buy a light fixture...like a 4 bulb...or like the things on ur fans at home ,they are like real cheap...im running like 13 100 watt bulbs but im goin to cut it down to 9...

well i read somewhere that you could easily grow one plant with 2 40watt CFLs. im not very experienced but from what ive learned on this site i think you would be able to grow 3 plants with 5 40watt CFLs but the more light you have the bigger your yeild will be.
but as for the right lights you should be fine with CFLs you just need to decide how many or how much money you want to spend:jointsmile:

they dont need that much (i grow my seedlings under a 60watt CFL) but its not gonna hurt them either

ok i have 2 plants a about 8 cfls and can put the others back in when ever i get a new timer...but yes dont get crappy lighting it will be very small yeild and will be a waste of time...just trust me and get about 8 to 12 cfls for 3 to 4 plants...youll have better results... unless you want to buy mh or hps lights more money but soo much better...heres a link,...search the site for other lights like 400 watt hps id recommend a 250 watt tho less heat and what ever...but i think you have to have a special ballast for it....

ok just some info: those swirly lights (lol) are called CFLs (compact florecent lights)
and they dont come in 100 watts they go up to like 43 but is equivalent to 100 - 150 watts
and no 4 will not be enough. thats like 1 light for each plant and im sorry for saying 5 before because you would need at least 6 and even with that it would be a small yeild

but probably only one will turn out to be a female (unless your lucky) so then it will have extra lighting and give a larger yield:thumbsup:

hey ace thanks alot. when the leafs start to come that ratio should i use 20 light and 4 dark or 18/6? or something different?
Ace977
06-29-2007, 05:48 AM
Glad to help:jointsmile: and you can use anywhere from 18/6 to 24/0
.:Karma:. o.O
06-29-2007, 05:54 AM
yea i used 18/6 and it worked but you can use anything but you want maximum growth and best root developement soo go with 18/6...i dunno if you know about what the light and dark do for your plants but light is like the charger to a battery and dark is like using it ina remote it grows and charges when lights on and it produces root developement when light are off and other stuff but im not sure what...

actually you could get the seedlings pretty big before you would need the 5th light in there so you really only have to buy 4 for now and buy the 5th later:thumbsup:
i actually have 2 seedlings under 1 CFL and 1 Flourecent right now but i will have to buy more lights soon

Great... good thing the expert is helping.
ill answer toy the best of my knoledge . but of course we won't know whether you actually KNOW the answer because you will also answer when you DON'T know it...
Anyway...
Tube flouros are good for veg. Great, in fact, and I like them a lot. The BOG even recommends them as your veg light in his book. And he knows his shit.
I personally keep a 4-foot T12 shop light for my clones, and a 24" T5 fixture for seedlings.
The T12 tube fixture I got at home depot for $25, plus the bulbs- get the cool white or kitchen and bath ones, NOT the plant /aquarium lights!!!
I vegged happily for a couple years under ONLY these lights. The trick is keeping the plants short and squat. You want good indica genetics and a pinch after the 5th node.
I bought some big halides because now I keep tall mothers, but the shop lights are great.
If you look for 'Demeter's Garden of Delight', she vegges under 2 shop lights with a total of 4 bulbs, which works BEAUTIFULLY. They don't throw much heat, which is a bonus.
I've tried CFLs and can't stand fucking wiht them. They are very hot. T12s don't burn the leaves if the plant touches them, while CFLs do. Just keep the tubes less than 2" fro the top of the plant and you will be fine.

hey attic you know ur shit lol no wonder your rep is so high lol so i think that i am going to get the tube flou but its only i think 70 watts

T12 shop light should be 2 x 40w = 80 W
CFLs are best suited for cabinet/micro grows where you can't fit much else- even then I would go with a 24" T5 New Wave or equivalent instead, and use CFLs as supplemental if the plants get too tall.
If you have space, use it! Small grow spaces can be very frustrating.
