Well first you'll want to post these kinds of threads in the politics section. But I'm sure it'll be moved shortly.

Anywhoo, I don't think right now, even if he is pro-legalization, he can risk taking a strong stance one way or another if he wants any chance of winning. Personally he's my favorite of the democratic candidates, it sadden's me that Hillary of all people will probably win.

I just remember when they asked him if he smoked pot he said "yes". Then when they asked him if he inhaled he said "well of course I inhaled, otherwise what's the point?" LOL, I loved the guy for that one.

I will be voting for Barack Obama in the primary. I am not sure exactly of his position on decriminalizing marijuana, but just his healthcare plan is enough for me. Also the fact he is not receiving money from PAC's, lobbyists, ect., and has raised as much money as Mrs. Clinton, is impressive. He also seems to be more willing to hear the voices of the average, middle class American.

I suppose I'll vote for Gravell in the primaries and Clinton in the general, unless of course, Ron Paul wins the republican primary, in that case, depending on who the Vice pres candidate is (If it's judiani or McCain I'll vote demo.) I might vote for him. No more right wing nutjobs, please. Remember that the Vice pres. is the swing vote in the senate. As far as the supreme court goes, were fucked, Bush tilted that way to the right. Expect your civil rights to be dissapearing Mach schnell. They're already coming on strong. Goodby abortion, goodby free speech, goodby right to bear arms, goodby right to reasonable search, etc.

Wait a minute, so do the American people actually vote the leader of each party in? 'Cause here in Canada the party votes for their own leader, then the people vote for the party. That's pretty cool if you do get to do that, gives me hope that Hillary won't win! Not that I hate the woman or anything, I just don't think 2 decades of nothing but Bush's and Clinton's is what you need.

if your registed as a Democrat you can only vote for the candidate in that party for presidential primary elections, same if you were a Republican candidate. Independents (third parties) can vote for both i believe.

If Barak is the only choice, i can settle for that, but Gravel or Ron Paul in the mix, i'll side with one of them, unlikely though.

and as for the "white power" people, they only make up like 1% of our population, so i don't think it would be that big of a deal. We need a change and a black president would be a good start.

that Gravel pretty well has his shit together, I'm thinking at this point ... too outspoken and independent to be taken seriously, but he had a few soundbites I liked ... don't know enough about him yet ... (remember: they're ALL lying :wtf:) ...

Obama has also said it "was a dumb mistake" so I wouldn't get too excited about him doing a damn thing about marijuana. Kerry in 04 was at least pro medical marijuana and he still lost. Only people I know are Ron Paul, he wont just just legalize marijuana but everything ass well. Here's a youboob clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-881504313541434246)of him calling the war on drugs a failure. Bill Richardson, who just legalized medical marijuana in his state! Dennis Kucinich will also end the drug war. And if mayor Bloomberg runs as an independent in '08 its a good shot with him as well.

He has made a few statements in the past indicating support for MM, but legalization is still too hot for him to touch. I like him.

I'm Pro-Obama. I don't agree with everything he says, but I agree with him more than anyone else. He just seems the best choice out of everyone. I think he would be a good President.

Hillary Clinton to me is a joke, and yes i based this on nothing political, i found it a joke she became a senator(i think) and i think its a joke shes actually a top contender for the democrated(sp?*) nomination, shes just burning the fuel on everyone that voted for her husband and I really really really hope something comes out to ruin her career.

Reasons why i don't think Hillary Clinton should be president:

1: a woman president would make the U.S. more of a joke it already is.(face it, im not a sexist, but a woman running the country just doesnt seem right and we could not be taken seriously in the eyes of the worlds population)

2: Shes running of the fame of her husband (which is a joke, i think Bill is a joke) which they pretty much are trophy husband and wife, they probley say 10 words to each other a week.

3: She got elected as a senator in a state she didnt even live in @ the time?(this could be incorrect)

4: "She was born and raised in Chicago, then Harvard, then Arkansas (!), then D.C., and now New York. What, exactly, does she represent?" quote GoneMild.com

5: She obviously pees standing up.

Once again I see somebody attacking Hillary and not giving any real reasons why. I'm not even a Hillary supporter, she'd probably just be another Clinton administration, but I've yet to see any real justification for hating her more than most politicians.

Reasons why i don't think Hillary Clinton should be president:

1: a woman president would make the U.S. more of a joke it already is.(face it, im not a sexist, but a woman running the country just doesnt seem right and we could not be taken seriously in the eyes of the worlds population)

All the male presidents of the US have already made America a joke in the world's eyes. The world's ignorant view toward women isn't going to be helped by pandering to the chauvenist ideology.

2: Shes running of[f] the fame of her husband (which is a joke, i think Bill is a joke) which they pretty much are trophy husband and wife, they probley say 10 words to each other a week.

lol, I agree with you there. But it doesn't say anything about her leadership skills.

3: She got elected as a senator in a state she didnt even live in @ the time?(this could be incorrect)

Is this possible? Maybe she was a legal resident and just away at the time. I don't know, never heard of this.

4: "She was born and raised in Chicago, then Harvard, then Arkansas (!), then D.C., and now New York. What, exactly, does she represent?"

I'd say she represents America. Do you really want somebody with their interests on one little area only? Attacking her patriotism or loyalties based on moving a few times is just silly.

5: She obviously pees standing up.

Probably. But hey, weren't you worried about her ability to stand up to the male leaders around the world? If we're gonna have a woman, might as well have one with some balls.

It doesn't matter who you want for president you're not going to get to elect him/her anyway. This isn't a democracy people its a republic. Difference: A democracy you get to vote for your president a republic you don't.
But public opinion does matter. Just write in who you want even if there name isn't on the ballot.

^Actually were not a republic either really. We are technically a mixture of both and that my friend is called a federal constitutional republic.

I have NO time for his stance on Iraq or his ideas on "proper" taxation. You want a weak military and high unemployment.......vote Obama.

Have a good one!:s4:

Well i can guarantee you all if Clinton wins i will be moving to Canada because wow...i mean we will have nothing but major problems if she becomes president.

I think everyone should go take a long hard look at Senator Ron Paul. Really read over his views on todays government, if you listen to the man in debates...you know hes right. Saddens me though that he is so blunt about what he believes i think it turns alot of people off.

Senator Paul said something in a debate that i think was just genius, "We must rethink the very role of government in our society. Anything less, any tinkering or 'reform,' wonâ??t cut it." Amen to that!

Also he would do so much good for our economy...not to mention the hault on the war against marajuana AND getting rid of the DEA! He says the DEA is just a bunch of power hungry people that do what they want when they want and i stand beside that!

He is simply amazing on his views...

OH...my reasons for hating Hilary? Shes a f*#king lier! And not to mention that she is so all for all this new environmental crap that we would all be riding bikes to work in a few years because they think that driving cars is killing our world. Well...i hate to tell all you environmentalists, the world has cycles! Sure im for saving resources and stuff but to say that driving cars and polluting the air is what is causing our temp increase and storm strength increase among the other billion things they blame that it causes is just ridiculous. Look back in science, in the medieval times the world went through a drastic heat wave for a few years and had very strong storms and hot dry summers, a few years later the earth rebalanced itself and things returned to as normal....think of it as smoking weed! You smoke and for a few hours you are different but your body re corrects itself and the drug slowly wears off and you return to normal cognitive state.

Well..my hand hurts and i could ramble for ages but thats all i have to say...:jointsmile:

So once again somebody (you) calls hillary a liar and doesn't present evidence to back it up. I don't care whether or not you support whoever, back up your assertions!

The global warming thing... well the global warming debate could go on many pages in a thread of its own. But you are not telling us anything new about the medieval warming period, we know. Just because the Earth changes in cycles doesn't mean the cycles going on now aren't inconsistant. The warming period in the middle ages was still nothing close to as drastic as what we are seeing today. And all the warming periods throughout the Earth's history have been consistant with the Earth's CO2 levels; when you look at the CO2 levels and the heat levels, at any period of time, they consistantly rise up and down in near perfect unison.

I like several things about Mr. Obama, and for the most part, I think he would make a great President if given the chance. He's got charisma, he's intelligent as all hell, and he seems to have a pretty firm understanding about most of the important issues home and abroad, and what he could do appeal to all parties. Sadly, at least at the moment, Hillary is more noticeable to the liberals voters and representatives...due in part to her radical ideas, her superior fundraising figures and the amount of money she has available to contribute to her campaign, and that damned annoying cackle/hyena laugh of hers...:cursing:

But I highly doubt that I'd vote for either of them, because I'm a fairly conservative voter. I'm not an Evangelical "holier than thou" conservative - I can't stand Bush or his administration - but, nevertheless, I am a moral and a fiscal conservative. And like many conservatives, I'd like to see Ron Paul's name get mentioned a little bit more in the mainstream media, though, I'm not sure how much of a contender he'll be. Based on what I know about Dr. Paul now, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. I admire his willingness to defend the 2nd Amendment for law abiding Americans, while at the same time making it more difficult for firearms to get into the hands of the wrong people - i.e. kids, violent criminals, illegal immigrants, terrorists, etc. I like his stance on immigration reform, his opinion that the government should interfere far LESS in the personal lives of citizens, his opposition to the Iraqi war...and, of course, his positive stance regarding the benefits of medicinal and industrial marijuana!:D

I'm not a huge fan of Giuliani, I really don't know enough about Mitt Romney to make an informed decision, and I can't remember whether or not McCain is even a Republican anymore...

Luckily there's still plenty of time to find out more about the candidates and their policies before the primaries. I think it would be a trip to see Paul for President, and Obama as vice-President! I won't be holding my breath until it happens, but I think it would be fun to see.
