I just got off the phone with Grant Krieger!

GRANT KRIEGER WILL FINALLY BE RELEASED TODAY!!!

No thanks goes to the cruel Alberta government either!

Grant's lawyer has finally secured Grant's release from prison at the Court of Queen's Bench this afternoon!
Grant will be released today on bail pending an appeal!
The Calgary Remand Centre must release Grant before 12:00 midnight today.

Grant has phoned me with the current information he has at this time, that is two bail conditions are included.

Grant can NOT distribute cannabis! Grant must report to the court of appeals each month starting in September 2007.
Grant has stated he will comply with the bail conditions!

I am currently awaiting a phone call from Grant as to when I can pick him up at Calgary Remand Centre and get him access to his legal cannabis medication as soon as humanly possible.

He is looking forward to finally having access to his legal cannabis medications again and working towards recovering his health after his cruel 10 day ordeal.

Once Grant is off Calgary Remand Centre property he will try his best to accommodate the media.

3:30 PM Grant calls with the news he is to be released.
While waiting for Grants call he is ready to be picked up. Fire off media releases, post on cannabis related Internet forums.

I decided I would go to the Calgary Remand Centre and try to expedite Grants release.
4:30 PM out the door. 5:30 PM arrive at Calgary Remand Centre. After some talk with two officials they find out I am right and Grant is to be released.

7:00 PM scheduled visit with Grant goes ahead. 7:30 PM Debbie is told he will be released soon.

9:30 PM Grant is wheeled in to the main front lobby.

The pictures below is Grant at the Calgary Remand Centre main lobby doors.
He is hurting pretty bad of course.

We had a cannabis butter muffin ready for Grant to consume right away and he then smoke some cannabis on the drive home.

Grant was having trouble getting around in prison of course.
One of the guards even refused to take Grant his meals.
The guards comments were he walked in here so he can bloodily well get his own meals or do with out.

Grant ended up missing two breakfasts and a two lunches due to NO wheelchair access and this guards disgusting behaviour.

The Calgary Remand Centre did repeatly try to stop Grant from accessing the phone by denying him access to a wheelchair.
Thankfully Grant previous kindness to fellow prisoners came back to us all in spades. They started to take risks to pass Grant's messages to us via the phone.
They were a god send. Actually Grant's previous kindness and suffering they could plainly see was what made them take the risks of isolation cells and help us all.

Last night we waited 4 hours for Grant to be released. Victor a visitor staff member was very kind to us every night we visited Grant. He even went and got us both coffee last night.

Grant's feet and legs are a mess of course. His hands are bright red as well.

They tried to screw up some of our visits. Just yesterday Debbie called to schedule our daily visit (from our home phone), she was put on hold and then the line would disconnect. This happened a number of times. So Debbie try's using her cell phone. Low and behold she gets through right away. I was told they do have call display but Debbie's cell will show as a private number instead of my name when we use the house phone. They told us the other day Grant was transferred to Calgary Correctional Centre and we could not schedule a visit. A supporter on the in side called us and I asked him if Grant had been transferred. The answer was NO he is still here with us. I called the Calgary Remand Centre again and told them I know for a fact Grant is still in the Calgary Remand Centre and we want our daily visit scheduled in short order we were put on the evening visiting list. Their attempts to deny us access to Grant went on and on sadly.

I believe it was due to all the negative media attention. I was releasing daily negative reports to the media.

Sadly as expected, learned from Grant's 2001 seven day prison term with out his legal cannabis medications, history is repeating itself yet again.

Grant is still unable to walk with out help from his roommate and another supporter living in the same building.

Both supporters have been working hard helping Grant recover from the cruel torture inflicted on him yet again by the Alberta justice system.

Grant was imprisoned with out his legal cannabis medications in the morning of June 18 / 2007 and release from the Calgary Remand Centre on June 27 / 2007 at 9:30. PM pending an appeal.

July 8...
I finally talked Grant in to compiling with at least one of the bail conditions. It was a tough sell but he finally caved in that he would go see a probation officer on July 10.

July 10
We drove him to his appointment and Debbie (my wife) had to help him walk in to the building to his probation officers office. No close parking spot so I just dropped them at the front door and picked them up at the front door.

July 13
I was contacted by a retired professor from the USA that is writing a legalize cannabis book that wanted to meet with me. Norml USA got us in contact with each other. I took him to Grant's home to meet Grant as well. The good doctor was here for the Calgary Stampede.

The good doctor has some very high profile and powerful supporters in the USA too. A real good thing for our culture.

July 16
The swelling is getting better now but Grant was sitting on his front step and with no one available at the time to help him while he walked he tried to walk inside his home alone. He fell and twisted his ankle.

July 18
Grant is resting up now so he will be able to come with us to a protest Saskatoon on July 28.

Also I hope he is well enough so I can take him to enjoy the Calgary International Reggae Festival (http://www.calgaryreggaefestival.com:80/) 4th Annual Calgary Reggae Festival August 11 to 18.
