I used to be a former heavy cigarette smoker from age 13 to 21/22 before I quit I was up to nearly 3 packs a day. I've been cig free now for going on 5 years now.

The problem is I've been getting into smoking weed the past couple months and I love it, but the psychological addiction of my former habit is creeping up on me at times. Inhaling the weed smoke has reminded my body of inhaling cig smoke so I'm getting cravings again out of the blue. On top of that, I have horrible allergies here in Indiana that I didn't have in Nevada, I'm constantly coughing all the time anyway for damn near 2 years straight, the smoking method for weed is increasing my coughing and hurts my lungs quite often.

I can't really fall back on just cooking it, because I can only make firecrackers when the families gone or asleep and the time it takes for them to take effect is random.

I think I need a smoke free way of intaking it, was thinking about the vaporizer method, but I certainly don't have $500 to spend on the volcano. (I'm supposed to be saving for my first car) I know there's some out there at the $150 price range that I might be able to squeeze the money out to buy, but I don't want to get a piece of crap that doesn't work right you know?

What's everyones recommendation for a cost effective yet reliable vaporizer?

Thanks in advance my fellow Cannabisians.

The light bulb (Marijuana Video: The Homemade Lightbulb Vaporizer Video (http://www.waytoomany.com/vids/weed/homemadevap.php)) is both effective and cheap, although it can be a bit harsh on the throat. If the agitation is too bothersome because of your allergies, I'm sure you could make some sort of light bulb vape bong.

You can get an excellent vape in the 100-$200 range. Mine was 130 and it's the kind with a whip that you plug into the heat element. It should be the kind that will stay on the element without you having to hold it, very convenient. Mine is a VaporWarez. Vaporbros. is also good. Homemade vapes use conduction instead of the superior convection style in commercial vapes. It's worth it. But buying a $500 volcano is beyond unnecessary.

Hey for your allergies try an antioxidant tea, such as yerba mate tea. It clears up my cold symptoms and allergies when I have them and clears out your digestive tract famously. Nativa yerba mate (http://www.nativayerbamate.com/) this is where I go for it. you can get cheap tea bags or do the traditional gourd style.

i second the hands free vaporwarez vaporizer. you may be able to find a better deal on ebay but go to vaporwarez site and figure out what you want first. hands free is definitly the way to go. nothing pissed me off more than having to hold that son of a bitch on the heating element. also if you feel froggy you can get attachments for the whip, the water pipe adaptor is bueno :smokebong:

If you want a vap that works just as well as a volcano, through the same mechanism, but is half the price, try the herbalaire.

It rocks at $250.

The little box types work well and run about $150. I have a "hands-free Vapor Brothers" that does the trick. Get one- you'll LOVE it! The $139 I spent on mine was the best money I've spent in quite a while. Vapes smell less, use less and are easy on the lungs.

I vape the heck out of my weed before "retiring" it, so I use about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of sifted used weed to every cup of flour in my brownie recipe. I like to mix hemp nuts (LEGAL and at your health food store and VERY good for your health- google "hemp, Lynn Osburn" for an excellent article) and plain old walnuts in my brownies.

Dear, get a vaporizer! I have toked for 40 years now (I'll be 60 in July). My lungs were a mess! I do have allergies, but I don't use tobacco. I'm a medical user and use it daily- several times daily. It took just 2 weeks of vaping before my lungs were clear! No chest rail. No coughing up junk. No morning cough! Vaping is a small miracle! - Granny:hippy:

I'll be 26 in August, and yes it's my first car. I lived in Reno, Nv through most of teen/young adult life. It's a very small city with probably one of the best bus systems in the country due to tourism on top of residents. I was kicked out of my parents house by my step-father when I was 18. Living on my own, having to pay bills with what mediocre money I earned didn't leave me much left. I basically had a choice, learn to drive and get a car spending all my available money on insurance and gas, or instead use the wonderful bus system and have extra money to pay for internet and games.

I chose internet and games. I lived across the street from the mall, my job was 10 minutes away on the bus. The only problem I had was going grocery shopping which I would take the bus to the store, shop then call a cab home for an extra $10. However now years later I was forced to move out of the state and with family living in Indianapolis, IN. Now the town is very large and everything is widespread. Horrible bus system, just awful. So I am pretty much now forced to learn to drive and get a car.

I'll most certainly have to look into that one. Perhaps this next payday. I dunno still up in arms whether I should get a vap or if I should buy the LCD screen I've been wanting to replace my crappy CRT monitor.

You could smoke some hash oil... its makes still less smoke than vaping...
