I don't see how you can tell him to rest in peace if he suffocated his own son and killed his wife. He may have been a good person when he lived, but that's terrible. I have no respect for someone like that.

This really suprised me when I heard about it this morning... He used to be one of my fav wrestlers most of my childhood. I've expected certain wrestlers to go postal and kill people (some of them look like they're on way too many drugs and they're fucking crazy if you've ever talked to some..) ... but to see Benoit do something this fucked up is just... fucked

my boyfriend said that the impact they have on mental health is exaggerated by the media (they're still really bad for your body though). Look at it this way, most, if not all, of those huge wrestlers probably take steroids to look that big, but they dont kill their families.
He had a history of domestic abuse and his wife used to have a restraining order against him. She went back to him after she told the police he threatened her and her son, and that she was afraid of him.

Hey, I hope your not speaking for me on this one. The dude fucked up and used steroids that drove him over the edge....same as it did once before in "03" I believe. He had a great career and allowed steroid use to destroy his life and his family.
I personally liked the dude as a wrestler.......after this, NOT as a person.

Btw does anyone else find if funny that Chris Benoit was the next person in the WWE to die after Eddie Guerrero died and when Chavo found Eddie unconscious in his room he called "Eddies best friend" Chris? Sorta weird.

Well i can tell ya all from firsthand experience as a steroid user that they will effect your state of mind. Theyre a hormone after all. When im running a cycle i get aggravated very easily and my normal jealous tendencies go thru the roof. And i dont take nearly the dose that these(Pro Wrestlers) guys do. In fact, there are certain steroids that are used to increase aggression (cheque drops for example) that im sure these guys use to increase their performance in the ring.
Furthermore, if he was already suffering from a mental illness, steroids will just magnify it.
It will be hard to make a direct connection as the testosterone didnt literally jump out of the bottle and strangle the wife and kid but in my mind it definetly played a role.

I don't really see how some of you find humor out of this. I really don't. But that's people, I guess.
I used to be a big WWE fan back in the day, and I'm very familiar with Chris Benoit. Never would I have imagined him to do something as horrible as this. He's a sick individual and I've (obviously) lost all respect for him as a entertainer, wrestler, and a human being.

Benoit, great wrestler from the old ecw days, i cant imagine him doing this though, the details are still kinda fishy, and i think someone was holding his kid and wife for ransom or something, saturday he got a call from his wife like a ransom call, he left immediately, not telling anyone in wwe, then he's found dead on monday, if he really wanted to kill his wife and kid in a premediatated way, he wouldnt have done it like this. Benoit is a pro, and never missed a ppv like he did on sunday, and why would he be at the ppv destination on saturday if he knew he was gonna leave to go kill half his family...........Details are too fishy for my liking, but that's my little conspiracy (sp?) theory, everything just doesn't add up, and it seems like the scene of the crime may look TOO much like a murder-suicide..........with the bible next to his wife, and shit like that.......
I still cant believe that this is true. Wrestling used to be my life.
Now my life is about weed and friends.
Benoit was one of the greats.
RIP
What?? He killed his son and wife?

im kinda in agreement with spliffstar22 .The cops said it was kinda of bizzar . His wife died on friday hands an feet tied and danel on saturday both with Bibles beside them. those two death look more like a ritual killing. Besides Benoit was skilled enough to snap their necks not strangle an smother. and then he hangs himself from a weight bench just dont add up. Now this may sound crazy but his wife was the former wife of Kevin Sullivan one of the most demented westlers of all time. But to me it looks like the cops are taking the easy way out. A whole family dead just has to be murder suicide. And it may well be. But what if he came home an found his family dead and in emotional stress he killed him self. That is a possibility but its just to easy to make the pronouncement that he killed his own family and then himself. Its a shame that this had to happen. But murderd westlers is nothing new. Bruiser Brody stabbed to death in Puerto rico and Don Marroco murderd too. and suicide among wreastles is not uncommon 2 of the Von Erics and renagade as a couple of examples. As it is we will never know what really happen. But maybe there should be more of an investagation. And we all know Benoit would have most likely won the match at vengence funny tho that Johnny Nitro who replaced Benoit won an is now the ECW champ. just think about it

Toxicology on Benoit isn't back yet. They did find legal prescriptions of steroids in his house.
WWE's stand on this is that he passed his drug test back in April but that doesn't mean much. When you see the WWE Wellness program what that means is if the steroids are prescribed and taken legally, they will allow them. Another point the WWE is making is that it wasn't roid rage because it was over the course of a day maybe days and it was very calculated and planned out.
Well WWE is putting as much distance as they can from Benoit. After the tribute Monday night they pulled his merchandise and removed his name from DVD descriptions and stuff.
It might not have been a "rage" in the heat of the moment but I think over the next few weeks it will come out that steroid did play a role in his breakdown.

well none of us know him personally so cant really give an opinion on what we think happened but maybe it was a set up to look like thats what happened, maybe people wanted money from him, he told them to fuck off so they killed his whole family, I cant see him killing his own family and then himself doesnt make any sense but then again none of us know him personally..

here's the statement somebody was talking about from wwe.com
World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel.
However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriffâ??s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:
1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.
2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoitâ??s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.
3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.
4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.
5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.
WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities.

The autopsy reports are not completed yet. They're still waiting on toxicology reports. It will be a few weeks or so before the final report is completed.
That being said, the other facts of the case are very damning towards him.
