Ok well I got this idea from juggalo and I feel it is sort of a religous/moral question... How do you guys feel about executing people who are retarded....

Personally I feel that if someone commits a crime worthy of execution be they mentally retarded or not they should be killed... the fact that someone is retarded doesn't change the fact that they killed someone... you do the crime you do the time/execution weither you be retarded or not.

Since reading this thread initially it has played on my mind so much so that I feel the need to post some of my thoughts on the matter.

The widespread availability of prenatal diagnosis has altered the way people consider mentally handicapped people. The birth of a child with a chromosomal anomaly is now widely considered as a medical error and in certain countries, doctors face lawsuits because they failed to diagnose the "condition" in utero. People now regard persons with a handicap as someone who should not be there. In some cases the person themselves know that had their condition been diagnosed in utero, they would not have been allowed to be born. They have become true survivors of the search and destroy missions performed in our hospitals.

We have a neighbouring family here whoâ??s daughter was born with Downâ??s syndrome. At the time of her birth there was much anguish and sorrow surrounding her condition. People didnâ??t congratulate them, they didnâ??t know how. Yes this child has brought immeasureable joy to them, us and everyone sheâ??s touched. Sheâ??ll never hold down a job or live what we would consider a â??normal lifeâ?? but holy shit can she love. It absolutely bursts out of her. Her mother worries about her future though, who will protect and love her after theyâ??ve gone?

A few years ago a woman drove off the pier in a Dublin coastal town with her son in the passenger seat. He was a Downâ??sSyndrome child and she had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Who will protect and love him after Iâ??ve gone? Was probably her question too.

Schizophrenia, by the way is a mental illness, Not mental retardation. There is a difference. I know a lovely young woman with Down's syndrome. She works bagging groceries at the local market. She is as delightful as any 4 year old. When a child in the store is crying and carrying on it upsets her so badly she has to be "taken for a walk". A friend of mine that works there explained that she had been mistreated badly at a daycare center for mentally handicapped children. She tends to want to attack whomever is with the child that is crying. She's very lucky, she has a whole community that looks after her. As for being useless, there's group of young men (15-27 yrs old) that do nothing but get high and play with their skateboards in the bank parking lot while living off of parents or girlfriends on relief. Interesting topic. The question we have to answer is not whether the person has the mind of a certain age. The degree of intelligence varies, however, this is not really a question that deserves a moral answer. This type of question comes down to the LAWs of that country, city, or town and previous cases that have occured concerning these similar facts. We can share are opinions which can change outcomes but really in this type of situation, it really comes down to the judge and previous cases. America is a christian nation (I dont mean all its people are christian, but it is founded on christian beliefs, in god we trust and all that)
One of the ten commandments is THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
America is committing a deadly sin so frequently they have developed machines that make it more "hands-off" and easier to clean up afterwards so they can do it more and faster.
Now I know in the old testament there are also rules about an eye for an eye, a slave (serf, servant, peon, whatever) for a prize bull and all that shit, but Jesus cast those laws down, and said desire of a woman other then your wife is the same as laying with her, and is adultery (comes back to intention now AGAIN, in yet ANOTHER religeon, but I digress). So what intention is being acted upon in that wonderous christian nation of opportunity? Justice/vengence (depends on what side your on again huhn...) protection, or is it just more cost effective to kill someone then to feed them for life.

Know your enemy, your enemy is subversion of beliefs, its never ok to kill a human being, especially when its not self defense, i mean the guy is strapped to a fuckign table and has a needle shoved into his arm, after being fed a last meal with chemicals to activate the powerful sedatives tehy have been feeding him for a week. (they swab the spot just in case he gets an infection i suppose) its not like hes coming at you with a brick and you have to open him and feel his blood while its still warm spurting on you. There really is not point killing someone for committing any crime, no matter how heinous, protecting society is what justice really is.
