For about 4 months ive been getting stabbing pains in one of my lungs (usually the left one) when i take a deep breath in but usually only for abgout 2 breaths.
Well for the past 2 weeks me and 2 of my mates have been smoking about a quater a day withought fail.
Tonight i got the stabbing pain pretty bad but didnt mind as i expected it to go away shortly, however 3 hours later everytime i take a big breath in i get a really sharp stabbing pain :(
I dont know what it is or if it has anything to doo with the weed but it seems to have gotten worse since i bn smoking more.
Anyone else get these sharp stabbing pains or have any idea what they could be?

Found this
Between the two layers of pleura (the pleural cavity) is a tiny amount of fluid. This acts like lubricating oil between the lungs and the chest wall as they move when you breathe.
Maybe cannabis causes the fluid to dry up?
I have a few friends that have actually quit cause of this stabbing pain :(

i get the EXACT same pain thing u are getting.....it feels like its in my lung area.......and it only happens when i inhale......VERY sharp pain.....but very brief also.........every time i get one im scared to inhale for at least 5 seconds after for fear that it will happen again
personally i dont think its cause of the weed........cause ive had these wierd pain things way before i started smoking weed....maybe some kinda growin pains?
iono man........good to see im not tha only one with these lol

Sounds to me like a rib might be out of place. Which is probably why a bong hit fixed it. I've had it happen to be before, and I usually just take big deep breaths expanding my rib cage and it usually helps. Sometimes you can even feel it pop back into place.

I have a freind who acutally is going through the same thing only his pain went away after a few days. He didin't take a break from smoking, it just went away on it's own, although I must admit he was very concerned about it at the time. I will have to ask him whatever happened to the pain.

It's been going on for 4 months? Sounds more like you broke or cracked a rib or pulled a muscle. Rib injuries can take a long time to heal and pleurisy is usually caused by an infection. If you have been walking around with an infection or pleurisy for 4 months somethings not right.
Any other symptoms?

may not explain but may explain ephesyma perfectly.. infact, i don't think you can actually get rid of it once you have it, which i'm pretty damn sure i have... i just don't care anymore... (even tho i'm overly sad tonight =/ everything has seemed to of hit me at once, it's in another thread) i just don't care anymore... it's not usually lethal anyways... you just basicly have ot stop being active, and if you really want the pains to go away, stop smoking...

His symptoms really aren't explained by emphysema. Shortness of breath is the classic symptom as well as increased breathing rate, fatigue, and cough. It is caused by inflammation leading to decreased elasticity of the air sacs in the lungs. It is one of the top 10 causes of death in the U.S. It is usually caused by smoking cigarettes (imagine that) and this guy seems too young to have it. Sharp pain just really isn't one of the signs of ephysema.
I want to hear back from the OP!

Almost definately pleurisy because when you say when you inhale it hurts so the membrane surrounding the lungs (pleura) is rubbing together.
I have chronic pleurisy... Goto the doc, he'll most likely put you on some cortosteroids or NSAIDs, or maybe even give you some painkillers.
Is it accompanied by a painful dry cough? It could be bronchitis....sounds most definately like pleurisy though...
the cannabis smoke expands the pleura were tobacco smoke shrinks the aveolie of the lungs... so this could explain why most cannabis smokers tend to have pleurisy more...

Believe me if our smoking tobacco LAY OFF IT.. cannabis does the exact opposite. It makes your lung much better.. I think the stronger the weed the more i can feel whats going on inside.. Yes humans have grown alongside tabaco but the doesnt mean its safe. People who only smoke tobacco are fucked..
tobacco is a killer bred by the leaders..

vaporizer bro, vaporizer. your saved. your lungs will be fine, maybe possibly improve, and you get alot higher off less weed. So you quit smoking, conserver weed, and get higher than ever before.
It's a win-win, win situation.

Nah i dont think it is pleaurisy.
Ive got it again tonight but not very bad, i have to take a really deep breath to feel it.
About 2 months ago i was able to take deep breaths in and it would make it go away but that dont work any more.
Ive not cracked a rib i dont think, i aint taken any blows to the ribs latley.
Is crazy how common it is and yet no one knows exactly what it is, what the cause is and how you get rid of it.... Government conspiracy :wtf:
^^ lol

I got something similar when I didn't smoke. I'd just be watching T.v. or on the computer, and suddenly I inhale to feel pain that got more intense as I inhaled. One day after about the 30th time it's happened, I just got so fucking sick of it I just inhaled as hard as I could and heard something in there pop a little bit... it hurt, really really really hurt bad, but it was gone almost immediately.

I think he may be right. My dad's a smoker for almost 40 years now or something. I've been getting second hand my whole life and starting smoking marijuana at age 11.
Sorry for second post.
