From The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer
The byproduct of pressing the oil from the seed is the highest quality protein seed cake. It can be sprouted (malted) or ground and baked into cakes, breads and casseroles. Marijuana seed protein is one of mankind's finest, most complete and available-to-the-body vegetable proteins. Hempseed is the most complete single food source for human nutrition.
(See discussion of edistins and essential fatty acids, Chapter 8.)
Hempseed was - until the 1937 prohibition law - the world's number-one bird seed, for both wild and domestic birds. It was their favorite* of any seed food on the planet; four million pounds of hempseed for songbirds were sold at retail in the U.S. in 1937. Birds will pick hempseeds out and eat them first from a pile of mixed seed. Birds in the world live longer and breed more with hempseed in their diet, using the oil for their feathers and their overal health. (More in Chapter 8, "Hemp as a Basic World Food.")
*Congressional testimony, 1937; "Song birds won't sing without it," the bird food companies told Congress. Result; sterilized cannabis seeds continue to be imported into the U.S. from Italy, China and other countries

I heard some guy lived off cannabis seeds for a long ass time....very nutritious....but I don't get seeds in my weed, and ordering seeds costs too much money, so I don't eat them.

i dont think you would eat the shell, i think you crack it open..eat the inside..and spit out the shell. or just get seeds with the shell removed. kind of like eating sunflower seeds i guess...

Yeah I always eat seeds. Less effort than throwin' 'em out. When I'm breakin' up bud to roll I'll just pop 'em in my mouth.
I don't like chewing stems anymore though, I've lost my liking for those.

I plant seeds. You get more pleasure and reward that way. ;)

You can eat hemp seed still in their shell but it's like getting eggshell in scrambled eggs. You can get SHELLED hemp seeds which are just as good nutrition wise and you don't have hard bits stuck in your teeth. They don't keep as long and they are pretty expensive. Eventually when you can grow hemp anywhere legally the price will fall through the floor. The protein quality is near perfect and so is the essential fatty acids from the oil. If you are in the UK you can buy them a bit cheaper from this site (http://www.hempmarket.com/cgi-bin/hmp-product-detail.cgi?product=1387&datafile=foodproducts) than from places like Holland and Barratt.

I save myself the trouble of eating seeds and buy hempseed FLOUR! :D
It makes the BEST crepe batter- much smoother and easier to work with than wheat flour, and I'm sure breukelen advocaat will check in with some words about gluten. Problem is , it's GREEN. And when I made my wild mushroom/wild rice crepes for my mom, she was like, "why are they green?" and I was like "hempseed" and she refused to eat any more until my stepdad and I convinced her that thye would not get her high, lol.
Here's my crepe recipe:
2 eggs
4 tbsp hempseed flour
1 tbsp wheat flour
splash olive oil or melted butter
salt and pepper to taste
just enough whole milk or light cream to bring the batter to the consistency of a very thick cream, or hollandaise sauce.
Stir it REALLY well but do NOT introduce air into the batter.
It helps to run it through a strainer before use to get any lumps out.
This works best on a flat iron skillet that is well greased and not TOO hot. Ladle some out and working quickly, spread it with the bottom of the ladle in a circular motion spiralling out from the center of the glob. It sets up FAST and needs to be flipped once, just to set the top. If you're all fancy and own a crepe pan, good for you. :D I just flip mine with a very very thin spatula, the sort you use to frost a cake, not a pancake spatula.
My favorite filling is simple:
Cook up some white and wild rice together in vegetable stock, with some dired onion and celery flakes added.
Rehydrate a bunch of sliced shiitake mushrooms in white vermouth- reserve the liquid when they are done- saute them with a half onion and a crushed garlic clove. When they start to brown, add the liquid back in, add the cooked rice, and if you like a creamier filling, add a few spoonfuls of cream of mushroom soup CONCENTRATE.
This is delicious, a real crowd-pleaser, and guaranteed to be a hit at the company holiday party. Make a LOT, it goes fast!

Awesome! I use Hempseed flour to make my panzerotti dough. The hempseed doesn't have a lot of gluten though so you have to mix it with all purpose flour. It tastes incredible and is great for your health. :D

Mmmm I probably would eat my seeds if I didn't save them for a future crop.
Yes, i eat a small proportion of my seeds.
To whoever it was who asked if seeds have any THC in them, the answer is no. None at all. That's why they're perfectly 100% legal in the UK. The only THC you might find, in minute amounts would be on the seed shell where it's been growing, but it will never be enough to get you high.

I like the milky taste of seeds. We really don't want to go to seed anymore, so I don't get to eat them anymore.

I love seeds. I try to only eat the occasional immature seed though. As soon as I find a local supplier i'm gonna buy some because I don't feel like ordering online.
And I eat them whole, the hull is never a problem.
