Ok so I took the rubber band off my slide to clean it and placed it on the couch arm. Forgot about it, then remembered and its not there (or around). I've given up for now, but my questions are : Is it important? and if so, if I can't find it, what's the name and such and is it typically available in a headshop?
Thanks in advance.

you have a 'rubber band' on your bong... i doubt you bought it in a headshop in the first place <.<;;;

weither way.. if you're talking about the thing that holds the actual down steam in the bong.. it's called a grommet...

A rubber band on a 6 hit slider? I've had these since the 70's and never recall getting one. Not doubting ya's or anything...just found this strange.

Shit, i've re-read it. I thought he was talking about the stem, not slider ROFL. On a stem the only rubber bit would be the gaskit, on a slider i dont know becuase i havnt got anything but glass on it.

Are you sure the rubber band is actually MEANT to be on it?

I'm almost thinking that it's just a protection thing for shipping so the pieces are definately going to end up together when the shipments are made to distribution.

That's what i was thinking, or one holding a label or something on that's meant to be taken off.

I've never seen an o-ring on a slider either. It's usually metal on metal with to ball bearings that line up with the bowls on the sides of the hit your taking.

If it's a glass bong, with a glass slide, and a glass stem, im pretty sure they'rd be no rubber on it at all.

The only rubber band you'd get on a bong, that i know of, is the gaskit - mainly on the metal bowl/stems for the acrylic & wood bongs.

Oh yeah....like a slider stem for a bong; my glass one has an o-ring. But like a 6 hit slider bowl?

ok, I seriously have no idea what this is or if its even important, but it was on there when I bought it, and is harmless, so I left it there. My cam is not working right now, so this pix is from the day I bought it home. the circled object is what I'm talking about, it's typically at the top, but in the pix it had slid down i guess. anyways thanks for the ideas so far, and thanks in advance, hopefully this pix will help everyone understand... :)

you need an o ring. you can even get that at a auto part store... just guess, that's one thing that definately doesn't need to be even close... so long as it stayes in place it's fine... tight as hell or not... just go to an o rieleys and tell them you need to replace an o ring and you have no idea what size... they'll either ask you to give them the old one (unlikely, but if so explain to them you don't have the old one) or they'll bring a tackle box looking thing full of them... of which you just pick one out... lol they're like 10 cents a peice..

oh it is NEEDED... without that., your bong is shit... sorry <.< your terms sucked lol... rubber band i thought you bought a bong with a rubber band on it, which a headhsop would NEVER sell...

correct terms help alot, anyways what you're looking for is an o ring... the grommit is the peice that holds the part the bowl goes into on your bong (that glass cylinder, you know the black ring around it that holds it inplace on the bong? tha'ts called a grommit)

Thank you! I would look for it again, but by now it's probably lost for sure. Thanks also for telling me where I could get another. Peace!
