Hey, Markass. When that happens to me, it's a sure sign my allergies are acting up. Even when you haven't had allergies before, you can develop them anew.
I found a good Q & A from a BBC Health site that I liked the answers on. The doctor explains that a lot of things can promote excess mucus production. There are a good many natural-health afficionados who'll tell you there's something wrong dietarily to create the problem, but unless you're drinking lots of milk or struggling with gluten intolerance, dietary reasons are less likely than is your immune response.
BBC - Health - Ask the doctor - Excess mucus (http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/ask_the_doctor/excessmucus.shtml)
My home remedy for the problem--and I just used this remedy this morning--is to take two Bendaryl allergy tablets.

well I sometimes have problems with allergies, but not too often...today it felt really weird though like there may have been something wrong with me..I actually though got a few tokes in and in holding it in and choking a bit I was able to hock it up and what didn't come up that way I blew my nose..really trippy..now I'm fine..a couple hours later
curious, do you practice medicine? you seem really well informed

I'm a second-year medical student and a licensed paramedic. And I'm married to a cardiologist. So I don't practice it yet unless it's an emergency situation that needs medic response. But I'm pretty resourceful at finding answers to fairly easy questions.
We do have some resident physicians here. My husband, who doesn't post very often, is one of them. He's a non-cannabis user like me but an advocate. The other prefers to maintain his anonymity. We also have a dentist, The Smoking Monkey.

We also have a wizard, and a few hundred odd shamans. :D
If its hayfever you got, I reccommend a homeopathic nasal spray, past couple of years i used one it worked miraculously, best cure I've ever used! I only get severe symptoms around June, and this stuff keeps them well under control.
