I'm surprised this incredibly :asskick::confused: anti-drug creation from the same guys who brought you all the other crap (abovetheinfluence) hasn't been discussed.
It's a mockumentary about some guys pretending to be on safari or whatever and stalking "stoner" creatures. Might be funny if it was a joke. If stoners were a race, then this would be racist.

Calling us uninspired when their copying a bit thats been done 20 times over. It's funny that most of the problems they point out, I had before i started smoking. Fuckin propaganda at it's worst, they could be spending this money on staving children or disabled people, but instead they waist everybodys time talking about something they don't know shit about. . .omg look at their quiz. . .one in ten fatal car accedents involve herb (which would not make 12.7%), but four in ten involve alcohol. i bet it was one of those drunk kids that so happened to have herb in them. . .
and wtf is this. . .
Marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke.* Other serious lung problems - such as bronchitis and persistent coughs - have been linked to chronic marijuana use.**
*Hoffman D, Brunnemann KD, Gori GB, et al. On the carcinogenicity of marijuana smoke. In: VC Runeckles, ed, Recent Advances in Phytochemistry. New York. Plenum, 1975.
**Hashibe, Mia et al. "Epidemiologic Review of Marijuana Use and Cancer Risk." Alcohol, 35 (2005) 265-275.
I don't get it, are they just making shit up? where are they getting their facts. . .

I saw that thing too, and I think it's an absolutely terrible thing. It is morally, ethically, and factually wrong.
I would almost go as far as suggesting that every single person from this site complain about it, but how many people do you think go to abovetheinfluence.com and believe it and are influenced by it? How many people go to abovetheinfluence.com, period LOL?

I just thought that I'd let you know that stoners in the mist is about the most ridiculous thing. What you guys aren't realizing is that pete's couch is a stereotype. We don't sit around and do nothing. I have a job, I have had since about a week after my 16th birthday. My graduating GPA was 3.4, and I am present around most of the non smokers in my town...I don't sit around and do nothing...They're fully aware that marijuana has negatively impacted my life in no way...it actually has been more effective at keeping me calm in school without adverse effects...ritalin kept me awake at night, tweaked with my anxiety, and nearly killed my appetite. I function normal in society, and the majority of pot smokers do, especially the young ones such as us that are out to prove your commercials wrong by proving to our peers we are able to function just as normally as a tobacco smoker or a regular user of alcohol. You'll never be able to turn young people against each other, because what you tell us is simply not true.
I just sent that to them using the 'contact us' form...trust me, they do read it, because I've gotten a few replies before with distinct answers to my inquiries...we'll see if I get anything this time.

yes, ATI is funded by the NIDA(national institute of drug abuse) too bad they wont take all of this money for bullshit commercials and give us stoners and our peers a free college education, that's what they should be doing..

why don't we all tell them that we know they're lying to us, and we know that it isn't as bad as alcohol and tobacco?

Another thing, you say that marijuana has no recognized medical value, well the federal government..the same government that gives you our tax dollars, grow and distribute marijuana to 7 people here in the united states every month. 12 states have enacted legislation for this same purpose, that marijuana can help people...why lie to us? poison ivy and tobacco are natural, but they're not illegal...you can't say a plant is illegal...it grows, and it always will, and as long as it always grows, we will always smoke it. And as long as you guys keep it illegal and tell us lies about it being dangerous, whenever it doesn't even kill people, rather than properly educating youth about it and putting it on a store shelf with an age limit on it...We are going to smoke it...and you actually know something, marijuana has changed me..it's made me into a better person, a person who thinks more logically, who is capable of realizing that something that doesn't kill people is probably my best choice, even if I have to break a stupid law.
I just sent them another one...another rant, but oh well..

I'm so sick and tired of being stereotyped and having our name dragged through the dirt. I personally feel there must be almost just as many if not more people who aren't bothered by smoking weed than there is people who don't agree with it. I find it absolutely disgusting that the Government or these organizations feel they can slap people in the face by producing these pointless adverts etc. on hard earned money that should be rewarding the people in society somehow. Give them better education or a better health system. But oh no, not in this world. Instead it's all about War, Terrorists, and Drugs. It's so frustrating that there is nothing I can do.
I'm proud i smoke weed, and im proud im breaking a law - a law that we dont need or want, an unjust law, a joke. I'm commiting a victimless crime by smoking plant matter, yet even though there is no victim, i still get treated like a criminal. For what? Smoking a plant? An illegal plant - say that outloud - "illegal plant" - Sounds like something a toddler would come up with.

Yeah, really bugs me that the 'war' on drugs costs billions of dollars a year. And its not working.
They aren't even cutting that much into drug dealers profits. There was something somewhere that showed the profit from drugs and how much the government cut into it, barely made a difference.
10-15% of illicit heroin and 30% of illicit cocaine is intercepted. Drug traffickers have gross profit margins of up to 300%. At least 75% of illicit drug shipments would have to be intercepted before the traffickers' profits were hurt.

in case anyone was wondering, i found this:
"This is the largest study of drugs and drug policy ever conducted by the US Federal Government. It contains detailed information on all aspects of the medical effects of marijuana"
"The Commission's National Survey revealed that 48% of adults believe that some people have died from marihuana use" damn. people being uneducated is one of the biggest fucking problems.
here's the link, there's a lot of interesting info in here, very very very long, but skim through it and check it out

We should make an Anti - Anti Canabis commercial. See how they like it.
"People who make Anti Canabis commercials are ten times more likely to import Heroin on an industrial scale . That's why they're against pot. They want us on the hard stuff"
Cue some poorly animated retarded bear on a red bike shaking his head a T.V with an Anti Pot commercial on it.
And CUT.

"Dude, you're blinking. hahahaha" That was funny. I hate ATI. Despise them. But "Stoners in the Mist" was kinda funny from what I could see. My internet's running slow today and required too much beffering to finish the video. But I know exactly where they can find a magnificent specimen of a mature stoner. Right here. I'd be happy to have them over to expose them to what potheads really do. Cause evidently, they have no idea. Maybe they should employ a couple actual stoners to study, as opposed to basing every goddamn commercial they make on the stereotypical 15 y.o. stoner in his parents' basement on summer vacation.

i know this won't really do anything, but it makes me feel better to know that i'm maybe pissing them off by sending them this shit all the time

I sent them an email telling them I agree with keeping kids away from marijuana and all other drugs, but I didn't agree with the blatant lies about marijuana. I then gave them some links to some credible sources (i.e. the article about marijuana having no link whatsoever to lung cancer, even with heavy use) and they said, "Please note that all research and statistics listed on this Web site are cited. We publish research from leading drug experts, such as the NIDA. (link)"
So, basically, they are just citing themselves as their sources, which means everything they say is fact. Apparently they know all! Really though, I don't even really let this shit get to me since its aimed at teenagers, and I believe marijuana is for adults. It would be nice if there was a way to get pro marijuana commercials on TV and show that its no big deal instead of this bullshit they have where everyone's a lazy dumbass.

What garbage. I'm just getting sick and tired of the entire Above the Influence Media campaign. I decided to send an e-mail:
I'm curious. Do you lifesavers make any effort in educating our youth with both sides of the issue concerning Marijuana? By golly, did you know there has never been a death caused by this illegal substance? Last time I checked there were some 440,000 tobacco related deaths in the U.S. alone last year. Somewhat of a significant difference, no? Why not educate our youth with more facts about the true killers; alcohol & tobacco. Since when does the National Youth Anit-Drug organization care about the children's social life? Who cares if they sit around on a couch all day. You can blame a different epidemic on the laziness of kids and adults alike these days. A little something called obesity. You may have heard of it.
I'm ashamed of your ads. I'm ashamed of your little Stoners in the Mist thing. I'm ashamed to share the title of 'American' with you people. Way to make cannabis smokers look like the lowest breed of human on the planet.
All I could ever wish for is that this e-mail is taken to heart in some way or fashion, but I know even that is a huge stretch. So, continue masking the truth, and I'll continue my educated life with a joint in my hand and true understanding in my heart. God Bless your ignorance...or better yet...your refusal to accept the truth.

I liked your message, I had the same idea here is mine, I sent this a few minutes before reading yours.
I have to say, I am very offended by your advertisments. I pay taxes as an american citizen and it is going towards your propoganda. Stoners in the mist was completely atroucious. The teenagers involved were clearly not even "stoned". Everything from coordination to habits to driving the car, pretty much everything, was completely over exaggerated, and not the least bit true. All your "facts" are very old and out dated. To top it off you claim marijuana has not medicinal uses? Marijuana is responsible for helping many, many tax paying American citizens who without it, might not be able to function in society. Your ads are disrespectful in general, and serve only as a way to cause hate towards a plant that helps people.
Please take the time to write back, I want to know what you have to say about all this.
