I just caught their 3-hour special on CBS. You need to keep in mind a few things while looking at this list.
1.) American films only, so no Seven Samurai or The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
2.) It was voted upon by filmmakers and historians and such, so there's an obvious bias toward old classics.
AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years..._100_Movies_%2810th_Anniversar y_Edition%29)
The list on the left was their top 100 as of ten years ago. The list on the right is their new list.
Whaddya guys think? How many have you seen? What's your biggest gripes with it?
I've probably seen about half of the movies on the list, none of the silent films however. My biggest gripe is Raging Bull at #4, I'm not sure how that happened. But their top 3 is perfect.
