How do you know if a seed is female or male.. are there different signs on the seed? or what..?

you cant tell from the seed you have to wait until the plant shows preflowers.

oh, i thought the females had veins in them or something.. and 1 more question, is there replicas of marijuana? because i have 1 plant on the side of my house that is growing 7 leaves.. it looks alot like a marijuana leaf but im not sure

There is a wild weedy plant that has leaf structure just like cannabis but a little hairier, and the plant grows pretty low to the ground. We have it in New England and it seems to like full sun and dry soil.

yeah, like, is there a different plant that looks like weed, but isn't? it does not grow to the ground... it is fairly high.. and probly grown a foot in the past month... i do not think it is marijuana because it is already so high and no signs of female or male.. so im just wondering if there is any other plant out there that looks like marijuana but isn't... thanks

where do you live? feral hemp is common in some places and also if you threw seeds out the window it's entirely possible that they sprouted. preflowers may not be showing yet.

you can tell if seeds are male or female if you take the seed and hold it in your fingers bottom up look at the bottom if it sort of looks like a volcano with and O on it then its more likely female and female seeds are more round then male seeds...male seeds are shaped like footballs and roll funny...try to get 1 vainy...but the color doesnt matter to the seed it can be darker or lighter and still make an awesome plant...the male seeds are like a football on the end and dont have the volcano shape but dont toss seeds away if they dont seem like males...

:wtf: sorry, that is BOGUS ... no one can determine the sex of a seed ... what you have repeated here, is an old wives' tale, urban myth, bullshit, however you care to refer to it ... but, don't take it personally, I have seen that same 'method of determining seed sex' in other online so-called 'growing guides' ... disregard it ... :smokin:

Karma this is getting tiresome. You are acting like you know what you are talking about when in fact you are simply repeating [in this case abolute BULLSHIT] information you have read elsewhere. It's going to really confuse people who are coming here looking for quality information.

I'm not even going to ask what those experiences were. If you are getting only females it's probably because your seed source involved selfed seeds of a hermaphrodite female.

ooo i dont know about how to accutally make a plant go from male to female but i dunno i just used it and it works for me...sooo yea...no offense tho...i dont mean to be an ass about it...im sure you know much more about growing then me...

i dont understand why you guys are all harshing Karma. He already said that it could very well be luck, and i dont think that hes lieing about using that method. Anyways, i personally dont think you can tell a Seed's sex, but everyone has there own opinion.

HE didn't backpedal to the luck thing until AFTER us old farts 'harshed' him, for reasons I already explained: If you don't know your shit, don't front like you do.


Anyways, i personally dont think you can tell a Seed's sex, but everyone has there own opinion.

Take opinion to the Politics and Spirituality forums... leave Cultivation for scientific fact. Whether you can tell a seed's sex is not up for debate. You just can't.

:) my apologies if I seemed 'harsh' (I don't think I was harsh, and certainly didn't intend it to be) ... I just want to emphatically discount his 'seed-sex method', because of newbie readers, that may believe that FALSE theory, which would only bring them disappointment ... I, myself, used to suffer disbelief and ridicule, when I used to claim I had only gotten TWO males, in over a hundred plants, spanning 40 years ... that was true, and I can only credit 'blind luck' as being the culprit ... however, that bitch, Karma, caught up to me, and I had a TERRIBLE spell in this past year, males, sick plants, etc ... I finally traced all my problems down, one by one, and have corrected it for now ... and, as for the males ??? ... I put them to use, giving up their pollen to create my own seeds ... "when life gives ya lemons", and all that old shit :D
